I don't think Mercedes strategists are making decisions which are correct in the race, just in last race Hamilton question's them why they pit Russell for the tyres? In Hungarian GP, Hamilton was on the wrong tyres too and lost the chance to win the race. And they are making such blunders for a long time even during their domination period but at that time their advantage was so big that those mistakes were not apparent.

As for Ferrari, well they are making such blunders for last half decade or so. Because of their strategic decisions they lost the 2017 and 2018 title chances. Vettel got seriously fed up with their strategy making team during the 2019 and 2020 season where they have cost him serious points scoring positions in some races. The bigger problem is they are not admitting that there is a problem with their strategy team and they need some people to be fired from the team. They have the best car for the early season where they should have score more points then they did and now they have lost that edge too as now RedBull have the car for all the tracks and a strategy team that have make sure in back to back races to win while starting from lower midfield or back off the grid a possibility.

Ferrari have lost the title fight and now they have to fight to remain as a runner up instead of a 3rd place in constructor championship as Mercedes have sorted their car and are now within a striking distance of Ferrari in constructor championship standings..
