Fraud in Murree: an advice

Many thanks to all for showing concerns, advice, and kind words. Some of you have blamed me for that episode. I see it as friendly criticism which is to an extent valid. Like I did admit in my post, I once again would say it was indeed my mistake that I went to that fraudster's place and trusted him which was, of course, a blunder. But I have learnt my lesson the hard way. As they say:"Mistakes are a part of being human." I am now battle-hardened and eligible to advise others on such matters.

Actually, I was inexperienced and it was my first trip on my own with my family. You think of people what you are. Meaning: if you are honest, you think people are honest too. This may be weird for some, it is a plain fact. Being honest is also a hazard in Pakistan. I have learnt that one should be honest, but alert and sharp at the same time, especially in Murree or any tourist destination in Pakistan and even abroad.

Thanks for your advice. But is it okay and advisable to carry a licensed weapon in Murree or other such places when one is with family or can it create problems?

Sad story - but I can find a lot of issues from the writer as well. Anyways, I have been a victim of these Murree guys - the shop keepers somewhere in 1990s. We were 6 boys at that time and full Murree market was on us No need to get extra advantage from anyone - nothing is free in these areas.

Looks cunning from face also...these characters can do anything for money...btw what did the DSP do after hearing ur complaint? did he take any action or something? wat was the end result?

Advice : Never EVER,i repeat EVER let them interfere in ur business,make them feel you've been visiting this place from long n u know the how things works here.. carrying a weapon is whole different chapter

I visit Muree awl most every year or two with my family....went to muree this January for...i was clicking sum photos n CHACHI JEE cam, saying Beta lao mai le leta hun...i said chachi jii boht meherbani app ki .. he kept on insisting i said its a DSLR n he was lyk in english "IVE BEEN PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER for 40 years...n i was lyk acha le dil khush ker le apna .. he took 2 photos n was lyk APP K Rs.200 rupay hogaya n a seriously arrogant tone..us ke baad being a pathan...PUNJABI KI jitni aati thi sab de di....chachi ji moqay se farar....well @poster thats just a single incident out of many funny incidents that happend to me on my honey moon buh by the GRACE of GOD .. no body could took a single penny out of me by the means of fraud.....

No offence to Abbasi or other tribes but I also experienced bad time near phagwari.
Me and my family were going to Muzaffarabad back in 2008 or 9(can't recall exact year).
Unfortunately we faced an accident near phagwari, the boy in the opposite car was local Abbasi in his rented xli and was out of his mind as he was driving in a convoy of baraat. Obviously stupid youngsters get 'shoday' in baraat, fortunately my family and I was safe in the accident and also the other side was un harmed.
After accident within no time 50-60 people gathered at the incident and that shoda boy, all were blaming my father (as he was driving) for the accident but it was clearly his fault.... A tourist stopped there after the incident and said that it was the Abbasi boy's fault, the ppl there got so furious because they didn't want to hear any other opinion and they pushed that tourist and forced him to leave.
After all the mentally and physically tiring time of almost 3-4 hours, we had no option and gave them 10,000rs. It was clearly a robbery by creating a crowd of the whole tribe.

PS: I've few Abbasis my friends in the university which all are really good but black sheep are every where. May Allah save all of us from difficult situations(Ameen).

Like most of the people who blamed me for all this, the DSP also said I should have been more careful and that I should thank my lucky stars that the crooked fraudster didn't steal any precious item from our luggage. He wanted to have his taxi number which I didn't have (It was another blunder). However, I provided him Abbasi's cell number, his name, car's make, etc. He then gave advice and precautionary measures to take while in Murree. The DSP also asked next time we should provide the name and number of the taxi driver to police before going anywhere in Murree. He also suggested to ring 15 for police help whenever I need. As I was with my family and didn't want to spoil our summer holidays more, we lodged a complaint, gave my name and number and left. I do not know what happened to that crook later. Had I been on my own or with some friends, then things might have been different. I would have definitely ensured that the fraudster is picked up and put behind the bars.
