Aoa frnds n @cerwinvega bro i have honda city 2001 engine changed with kabli engine,engine is in very gud water thrwing condition only 10000 kms aftr engine change, i have changed the oil shell semi synthatc 10w40 , but the guy from which i purchased the car was using mineral oil jab sy engine change krwaya, will it effect the engine? Im in isb n il hav to go to faslabad twice till september,, mjhy log keh ry hn pehly flush krwana tha or 20w50 dalwana tha,,wt to do plz help

Dear @cerwinvega I recently bought a beautiful Civic Exi 2005. I travelled 3~4 times on GT road not exceeding 100 km/h without any problem. Everything seemed fine. However i did observe brown clay in the water expansion reservoir.
Problem started as soon as I went on motorway one day. Car heated up after 1 hour. Expansion tank cap was thrown off. Water all gone. Head gasket was blown. As no Honda specialist mechanic was aval, i had to go with the neem hakeems available nearby for HG replacement. I knew they had no concept of properly torquing the head bolts as per sequnce. However i had no options on motorway as i was with family.

Damage:
Ignition coils were badly damaged.
While removing the head, 3 x head bolts pulled out the thread from the block.
Apparently head had already been faced more than once (as per mechanic).
I got the cooling system checked. Radiator was apparently new. Fan was working. Thermostat had been removed.
Head could not be faced as no khradia was available.
I came home with a cardboard gasket which i think is still leaky. I loose aroung 250 ml coolant everyday.
Advice Required:
Please i need your kind expert advise on:
1. Will i need to get engine replaced due to the threads pulled out by the head bolts from the block or is there a proper repair possible. Will it be economical & headache free as compred to engine replacement. (Kabli available for rs 25000 with exchange).
2. No mechanic seems to be aware of properly torquing the bolts. Atleast i have failed to find one even after consulting many. (Honda will charge me more than Rs 50,000 for repairs.)
3. Can the head be faced again as it seem to be already faced.
4. What could be the reason for heat up in the first place. (Cooling system was not faulty).

Really sorry for all the verbosity. I am in trouble. Looking forward to your guidance.

Brown clay that u say mostly comes from using a bad coolent for a long period of time the previous owner must be unaware never use osaka coolent or any other 3rd degree coolents available in market if u want use only caltex orange colored coolant or branded liqui moley these are mostly water mixtured ones

i have brown clay in the water expansion reservoir too. however I'll get the coolant changed(to a better one) next week.so is that it or should i be looking into something else too?

In pakistan usually older cars below 2004 models require coolant u have a newer model if its not misused u should not be using the coolant in the first place..if ur using ac what u should be doing is spraying fresh water in condensor almost everyday since there are summers this will keep ur car cool n condensor/radiator clean from dust clogged up particles u can do it at home before going to work .. start the car engine for 5 mins then turn the ac on n spray the condensor make sure the pressure of water is not too much that it damages the grills of condensor or spuns off the rotation of fans..do this everyday .. if u still want to use coolant timely flush or drain the radiator three to four times until u see the clear water n change it the reason is because the remaining coolant is inside engine block change it every cold n hot season whenever ur tuning n make sure the car is not hot when changing wait atleast 2 hours to get the engine block cold especially in summers, check the hose pipes.. ur car will never go through any heat issue

I highly appreciate the detailed reply. no I don't use the ac frequently and neither is the car misused however I'll follow your procedure of draining the coolant until clear. in fact I'll be going to the 3s and get it done. should I be looking into caltex coolant? a noob question perhaps but what other disadvantages does water have apart from soiling the piping if i dilute the coolant.

Advice me, which car should i buy in 18 lacs range, i cant shell any more than that.
My first car was passo, i had a pleasure of driving it for 3 years.
I was very inclined for Honda city but with facelift on the horizon, i think it would not be appropriate for me to buy a car that i will have to keep for 4+ years and which has already been on the roads for 5 years(current shape is 5 years old i think)

Sadly, i think i have no choice but to go for GLi, but i love honda drive and the fact that it's not as common on the roads as corolla has always been satisfying. But new shape would kill me literally.

Waiting for new shape is not an option since i need it in few months and I can't wait any longer.

Only option other than corolla is JDM, but I don't even know if i can get decent jdm in 18k range (i need sedan, not vitz/passo)

My uncle owns axio, but i think we dont have new imports of axio that i could get for my price range.

I have tried to be very discriptive in laying down my needs, hope i can get a honest response from fellow pakwheelers.

Thanks alot for your detailed insight, in my opinion going for old shape and then still keeping it for four years would not be a good option. Also, adding the fact that it's not fuel efficient car at all would also be added to the equation. With that in mind, i am little bit skeptical about old civic. If i had been able to to increase my budget, i would have definitely gone for new civic.

But i may be wrong, also if you guys could add some pros and cons and "personal experiences " i would be in your debt.

Ps: Keep in mind, i am planing on keeping the car for minimum of 4 years, and my traveling would be 1500-2000 km each month.

Pss: I don't want hybrid.

As far as shape and drive is concerned reborn is the most beautiful and powerful car produced by honda, you will love every second ride of this car and even if you think its milage per liter is 2 km less then any other car but still enjoying its per kilometer ride is worth it ... in case if you make your car to look attractive you can change ftont and back lights and also get body kit installed which will not cost you more than 40k
