bro, my math is correct, i have a GPS software installed in the car at the time...it showed 2909 miles from Orlando to San Francisco....plus we also stopped at the grand canyon, which is a few hours aways from Los Angeles.....its was roughly around 3200 miles average from Orlando to San Francisco if you add the stop at Grand Canyon.

well grand canyon was not mentioned earlier and you said from orlando to sanfransisco was 3500 miles thats why i said that cause its less than 3000 miles.you know those extra few hundred miles in that long trip make a lot of difference as u r tired of the ride.........and i don't blame you for not willing to travel that much by road again:)

you're right...i did forget to mention that part, but it is rougly 3000 miles (2909 miles to be exact)......the longest ride i can do is 6 hours.....above that, i think i'll take a plane next time.

FOLKS.......AliQadri (DR MAQ) has joined me in this trip from Lahore. The plan is to meet him in Lahore and than proceed further together. We need some input from members that we wanna cover from Lahore to Besham in one shot. This is possible if weather and road condition permits us. We want to know the present road condition specifically from Mansehra to Besham. In other shot we wanna cover from Besham to Chilas....(I think we should not go beyond chilas as the distance from Besham to Chilas is approximately 400 Kilometers.) but it is under consideration to hit straight Gilgit........What do u guys suggest??? From Gilgit to Hunza.....SOST and Khunjrab and same way back. From Lahore to Lahore the estimated time of the trip is 8 days.......any suggestions??

Buddy I was mentioning here the distance in ONE SHOT......that is straight driving from Omaha to Orlando with out any stoppages except for gas.......I believe that nobody can drive 3000 miles in ONE SHOT? I think now you got it. As far as long distances are concerned I have explored almost 40 States by car. One thing more...I am always single driver......always......Car driving is my passion and I love to drive long distances.I have explored from Keywest to State of Washington (Not DC).....LOLZ.....Take care....Cheers

I was planning to go to ISB from KHI, but my family has never travelled beyond HYD, they got bored even till HYD, and therefore are reluctant to go to ISB. Kids' schools will be started in August, which is another reason that they will not be able to join.

I would be glad to join you, if they manage to stay at my father-in-law's home, will discuss let you know, will stay in trouch with you, regards.

I have to agree, the long trips can be tiring, specially with little kids, it takes toll on everyone. I have driven from Michigan to Virginia, several times. About 600 Miles or 1000 Kilometers. Very tiring trip. Alot depends on the car. The bigger the vehicle the better the ride.

On the Michigan-Virginia trip, I have driven, a Nissan Maxima, as well as my Ford Explorer SUV and my Toyota Landcruiser. The best ride was in Landcruiser. You don't feel tired in that big comfortable beast at all. The trip usually takes 7 to 8 hours, but in LandCruiser I felt like the whole trip was just 1/2 hour long, due to all the comfort and huge selection of DVDs, and CDs to entertain with.

The best approach is to buy tickets, specially when you are alone and also buy tickets from the internet on Cheaptickets.com, etc. You can fly from MI to VA with $100 fare. But by driving and eating out, you would easily spend $200 for the trip, for gasoline and food. But travel by car can be more economical than airplane if you are travelling in a large group.

I don't think that Land Cruiser's ride is comfortable than luxury car. I do not enjoy long trips in Land Cruiser instead I prefer car as Land cruiser is good for offroading and not long trips on paved roads. Well it all depends on your choice. As far as Videos are concerned you can watch them in car as well.............you can have all facilities in a car like entertainment, dual fuel tanks, refrigerator, altitude meters, cup holders, dual Air-conditioning etc. As land Cruiser's ground clearance is higher than car so the ride is bumpy and not as smooth as car's.
