Praiseworthy info...... but please allow me 'my two cents' regarding TOTAL. Talking of my tomfooleries involving motors, I've come across TOTAL lubricants being quite dependable. Rubia XT 15W-50 for Diesels is pretty good and has good value for money as being cheaper to Rimula X and Delo GOLD. I've extensively used it in Rallies and it holds through without any hiccups. For Gasolines I use 15W-50 Quartz 4x4 for the V6s and Quartz 9000 for the Evo......and found them of excellent quality and again extremely good value for money......moreover they are manufactured in UAE and France respectively. For smaller petrol motors Quartz 5000 is has my vote which is 20W-50. Other brands, except SHELL, PSO and CALTEX, do not have any reliable chain or branding systems and hence the mistrust.....as I of one would never buy any lubricant out of a shop....always a good idea to get 'em retailed by a major gas station in your city!!!

Clearly you've done your research through trail and error (sadly the only real way to do it in PK) and have found what works for you - which is what everyone should do. however i'm very anti-shell, caltex and PSO when it comes to lubricants as there are many alternatives out there which are better and offer better value. BUT your point is VERY valid about the "mistrust" when it comes to other brands as they tend to comme and go like a passing wind. Fuchs & petromin are here to stay though. Fuchs is backed by Hascol, and Petromin is backed by OOTCL so they are able to take the fight to the lubrcation bog boys in PK and they are already doing so.

the biggest disadvantage Fuchs and Petromin have is that they don't sell Fuels in PK so there is no way any pump (except non-franchise ones) will carry their stock.

thanks for your feedback, it is exactly the type of thing more people should be doing when looking for a suitable lubricant for their vehicles.
