ok here we go ....
i know this is my first post on PW but i have been sneaking up on different posts for a while now.
and now why this post ??
because i want to review the intake kit that i got from Mr.Jz
small review
two thumbs up
long review
I bought honda city AT this feb and i felt the car is under power maybe because i am used to driving big cars so i decided to do a few things with it.
firstly i wanted to change the plugs so i searched all over the web for better plugs but later on I found out the stock NGK plugs are iridium and they last for 100k and the only aftermarket replacement was IK20, which then again are rarely available in PK. so I dropped that idea.
the next inline was air intake and exhaust system and i was looking for honda fit compatible K&N air intakes because i had one in my other car. K&N intake kit compatible with honda city is 69-1017TTK but it cost $306 without taxes and duty and that would take a lot of time getting shipped too and then i tumbled upon JZ post here, where he was selling all sorts of air intakes of simota.
I was a bit susceptible on simota and i still remember i initially wanted the simota kit and air filter from K&N but only the air filter was costing around 9k. after having long exchanges of text messages over the spam of two weeks with JZ i thought of giving a shot at simota and i purchased the intake. the purchasing process was pretty smooth JZ's brother dropped the intake at office and everything was brand new as committed.
moreover, the intake price that he is selling at is almost 500 to 1k lower than the market price.
the intake was bolt on and it took only 20 mins to get everything fitted on the engine bay and the intake sound is almost like stock on low rpm but now the drive is a breeze at lower rpm and i dont feel like pushing the peddle too hard, but once the vtec kicks in on higher rpm the intake roars a bit but thats slightly noticeable and i will test the consumption on higher rpm once i hit motorway the coming week.
after installing the kit the first impression while driving my car was that the peddle actually felt lighter and the torque seemed a bit better.
note: dont expect heavy hp gains with any air intake but the car will surely be more responsive.
okay afterwards i got my car fuel tank to full to see what difference the intake has made on the consumption. here i would like to say that before installing the air intake i replaced the stock rims and tires with 15' superleggera with db 195/60 profile and that helped me get 1 km/l more out of the car, meaning i was getting 10km/l within city.
after installing the airintake i am getting 10.8 km/l and i dont commute at longer distance alot because my office n home is in defence so braking and turning usually doesnt allow my car to be more efficient while consuming fuel.
the only reason i am posting something on PW for the first time is because this is my first purchase through PW and i feel its my obligation to let the rest city owners know that JZ is the man and his stuff is legit.
thank you JZ
