To the poster-
I'm betting your engine isn't bust. I was told the same thing about my 1998 Shogun when I bought it, and I noticed it loosing oil every week early on. Pajero engines are sensitive to changing oil on time, this is what a member on another forums site from the UK told me. So, all I did was to change the oil once a month for three months, including the filter. Lo and behold, no blow, no loss of oil, no smoke. I spent nothing on the engine, and its as good as it can get. Do this to your ride if you keep it, or advise whoever is buying it off you to do the same.
I'm betting you have the 3.2 DiD engine in your Pajero, if you do, know that it is one of the best diesel 4x4 engines made as of late. The power is crazy, and it smokes those Toyota 1KZ variants easily. Its a great engine.
PS. You have a great ride, you should be proud of it, and so should the new owner.
