Fuel average of Faw v2

Lahore city with AC: 13~14
Motorway 120-130kmph : 12~13
Motorway 100-110kmph : 17+

Difference of mileage on motorway because after roughly 115kmph VCTi activates which increase fuel consumption for better acceleration and control.

I am driving V2 since last 1.5 years, and I am getting 13-14 KM/L on Local and 16-17 KM/L on long route. Whereas average speed on Local is 50-60 KM/Hr and on long avg speed is 90-100 KM/hr.
Above Calculation is based upon 2-3 passengers on board and AC intermittently operational.

Previously I was using 1000cc Suzuki Alto and my monthly Fuel consumption is more or less same as Suzuki Alto. So I can say that Fuel ka Kharcha iss ka Suzuki Alto jaisa hi hai.
Baqi Kharchay check karo to, Oil Filter aur Air Filter ki price bhi same Suzuki Alto Jaisi hai, means 300-400 ki range mein.
Aur Oil Change Suzuki ka 1600 ka tha 3 litre aur iss ka 4 litre hota hai jis ki price 2200-2500 tak hai. So oil change expenses almost equal as 1000cc car.
Baqi Comfort aur Power wise ye us se bohat bohat behter hai.

Are you sure about the VCTi thing? What I have read about the CA4GA1 engine is that it is based on the Toyota 2SZ-FE or the 2NZ-FE. The VCTi is similar to Toyota's VVTi, which is implemented through actuators and oil pressure and is working all the time, unlike Honda's VTEC, which is implemented through electronic controls and might be controlled through the ECU.

This is my understanding and I might be wrong. Feel free to correct me if that is the case.

Oh... I forgot to mention that this much mileage was with 02 persons (01 driver and 01 passenger) and continuous AC (functioning at medium speed).
Mileage also depends a lot on Engine Oil condition & Grade, and cleanliness of Air Filter.
I always get Air Filter cleaned before starting long journeys.
I think, 5w30 is the best engine oil grade for 1000-1300 cc low mileage, non-hybrid, local / JDM vehicles.

You are absolutely right about VVTI and iVTEC, on implementation level these are different technologies (VCTi and VVTi are technically same) but for person who is driving the car feel is almost similar.

I have experienced similar behavior with 1.3 GLI manual and 1.3 City manual as well on motorways. Each car have slightly different cutoff rpm point when VVTI/iVTEC activities.

This is for manual cars only, automatic gears like Prosmatec shifting is a different story. In-fact Prosmatec city gives better mileage than manual city on speeds 120+ kmph.

Our local Suzukis do not have this behavior and generally mileage gets better with increase in speed on motorway around 120. (Except Ciaz which is VVTI)

I humbly disagree with your explanation of VVTi and VTEC. In my opinion, the Variable Valve Timing is working all the time, in both VVTi and VTEC. However, in VTEC, at certain RPMs, the electronic lift control is activated for higher performance. This generally happens at higher RPMs and higher speeds, hence the VTEC 'kicks in' concept. The VVT of both the VVTi and VTEC does not 'kick in' and works at all RPMs providing efficient fuel burning and better economy.

The reason fuel economy drops after a certain speed is because the RPMs get too high, leading to higher friction losses, as well as more energy required by the engine to overcome the greater air and road friction and moving a mass around a distance with a greater force.

I do agree with your reasoning about fuel economy drops after a certain speed because the RPMs get too high. Thats valid for all cars regardless VVTI or not.

Now I think this is a very simple thread and things got too technical

Sharing it from rawalpindi

I have different routine for each month or 15 days based on my profession. We have day, evening, night duties. Here is my experience

City driving during office rush hours
About 450km in one tank

City drive in usual routine. Other than office hours
About 500 to 520 km in one tank

GT road. Pindi to lahore/gujranwala/sialkot
More than 600km in one tank. Usual speed upto 90 to 110kmph

Motorway
500 to 550km depending upon speed. More than 120 and upto 110 respectively

I get best mileage when i keep the rpm below 2500. Or accelerate to the desired speed quickly (but keeping the rpm till 3000) and then just maintaining that speed by lightly pressing and leaving the pedal alternatively

I have driven my car 2700km till date, recently tested and found that it is doing 12 in city and 14.5 on highway, both with ac all time on. i think it will improve by the time odo reaches 10k kms.

The realistic mileage figures of an engine of this size are:

1. Within city 12.5 to 13Kmpl without AC, 11 to 12 Kmpl with AC (depending on
2. On motorway, 14 Kmpl without AC, 12Kmpl with AC (at speed 120+)
   3- On G.T road, 14.5 Kmpl with AC, 16.5 without AC (speed between 80 to 100)

I have driven Corolla, Liana, baleno and city, all of these have almost same averages as mentioned above. Although owners of city claim the mileage to be 20 or 21 on long, as if it was a hybrid vehicle.

I am from Karachi.
Driven mine for 5000Km in 3months and fuel average is comparable to my 2007 Corolla, almost 7Rs/ Km.
Estimated mileage is 14kmpl regardless of AC.
So yes, so far this car is proving to be a better choice than swift, wagon-R and JDMs.

aoa bro, I have Faw v2 since july this year (brand new). have never got an average above 10.5 in city with AC and with little waiting times outside children school. is it fine or do i need to get it checked ?
