A wise selling technique I came across was quoted by a friend. His words, so I can't vouch for authenticity.
Seller puts up an ad in newspaper with an already reasonable demand, and arranges for visitors to come on a given sunday. Lets each of them check the car and asks them to write their final offer and phone number on a piece of paper and leave it with the driver. Says the top offer will be called by evening. My friend left his offer and didn't get a call. He called the next day and was told that the car was sold to the best offer.
No hassle, no fuss, no tackling dealer's tactics, no lowering down to their level to answer their cliche's which they use every single time to earn their 10-20k.
Again, not 1st hand experience. Would definitely try that next time I am selling my car.
