Gear problem in brand new ALTO

i just got my Alto VXR CNG from showroom, when i was driving car to home i found the gears were so so and so very hard that i couldnt switch b/w gears? speically it was in 1st 2nd and reverse gear?

can you guys confirm me if it's a factory fault or the problem will be resolved within 2 or 3 days of driving?

Besides on petrol and cng both i push hard the car was not going more than 60 on CNG and on petorl not more than 70 to 80?

dont be get disappointed about the fault. as i have purchased the same in 2008 and now in 2011 , though in start it tend to be very hard to shift into first and second gear, and definately quality contorl issue with suzuki. but dont be disappointed and go to their autorized service center unless u dont get fix of it. i did the same and got the resolution in my first car. and in second it almost gone with passage of time. now the issu for your speed this is just the matter of adjustments. go and get the first tunning done. you will get the difference. as your vehicle is not crossing the speed on both CNG / petrol. so it has to be fixed with tappet setting which is a normal process of adjusting it. best of luck

Don,t fedup..... I had very long starting problem + very low pick in initial days of my car. Tried to get the car adjusted from Suzuki Carachi but failed. I took the risk of getting it adjusted by outside suzuki and the car started behaving all positive. No starting problem, no pick problem etc.

Hey brother, finally suzuki dealership completed the work order and sent to suzuki head office. Suzuki sent one guy to do the inspection of vehicle.

He agreed that yes car do have problem with 1st and 2nd gear. As per him work order should be approved in couple of days and then i will put my car in dealership and get it fixed.

Lets see how it works out. will keep you posted.

Dear Sohail,
I found my self in the same scenario about 8 months back when i purchased my new alto. Its really a very unpredictable little thing. Gears are really very tough in the beginning and its normal for ALTO. I would suggest to drive your car on petrol and high octane solution for at least a thousand kilometres and than think about CNG. Please also get your car's gear oil changed at exact 1000kms or a little before.

For the petrol issue I would suggest you take your car ASAP to Suzuki people and get some adjustments done on petrol. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR NEW CAR ABOVE 60KM/H complete the running first.

Maybe; I was driving Cultus (Carby) before. I thought both would be same as both are 1000cc, but seems like i was wrong:)

live with it upto 1000km
then change gear oil to Zic FF and prblem will vanish

^^i had similar problem in swift...only it was much less noticeable...2nd gear and reverse both were grinding slightly...changed gear oil and it all bacame slick and smooth!

Dont do anything by urself , the car is in warranty , just bang into them and tell them u want to get it fixed under warranty or a new car. If they show any notions simply lock the car and leave it there at thr place telling them that they ll recieve a legal notice from your attorney.

Dabna nahi warna ye kaam hone wala nahi, its ur right u have paid a damn huge amount of money so ur stance should be aggressive rather defensive.

I second this suggestion also you can tell PAKFAZUKI that you will take them to the Mohtasib-e-Ala's court, it really works i took SNGPL (Sui Northern Gas Pipe Lines) to this court for over billing and had approximately 14,000 refunded..... Yes it happend in Pakistan :))

Aight man. 2 days ago i put my alto in Suzuki shop. Suzuki motors sent one of their guys there to check my car. Anyway they fixed my car same day.

Changed pressure plate of the car. Thanks GOD suzuki paid for it. While i was there I also had my gear oil changed. I was going with ZIC but someone recommended me korean DRAGON gear oil. So thats what i had them put in it. Already had the engine oil changed at 1000KM.

Thank GOD my gear problem is gone and car is running a lot faster than before. I am still running it on petrol. Will get engine tuned and CNG installed after 5000KM.

I am happy that finally i am enjoying my new car. Its doing great.

yar i have 2006 alto almost 69000km done, well kept, all things are fine except clutch and gears, gears are indeed very very hard.

is it possible to change manual gear in ALTO VXR to automatic. need suggestions plz...i have an alto vxr 2008 and i want to change the gear from manual to automatic, plz suggest and inform me about the advantages and disadvantages...
