I bought a 3kw hyundai HGS3500 generator for my home. But facing some issue with its wiring. As i have no idea about generators or electricity circuits, my initial understanding was one of the wires will be having 220v and one one will be a neutral in it. So according to that understanding I just plugged-in my UPS to generator output for charging but the UPS tripped.
To find out the reason we checked the voltages on each of the output wires of generator, found that both are showing 110v ( checking each separately with ground ) due to which the UPS just goes in error state. Now i am not sure how can I connect my appliances to it without the neutral?
The main purpose of generator was to charge the UPS in worst cases as since last year i have faced 4/5 episodes of more than 18hours power outage due to transformer breaking down each time. So this generator can charge the UPS and run the fridge and water pump atleast to survive.
Can someone please guide me how to get one neutral from the generator so that my UPS can be charged?
One thing the electrician did to test was used a 100watt bulb. If he connects it to both wires of generator it glows. But if he connects the bulb to a neutral of wapda and then connect other end to each wire of generator ( which were showing 110v each), then the bulb does not glow
