@Saad - I absolutely agree with the second point you raised - why wait till the 20th to ''celebrate'' your boycott for two days? If you want to do it, do it now, do it for good, what's wrong is going to be as wrong after two days as well. Its like those members on PW who come up with a whining thread ''I'm leaving Pakwheels'' only to get registered with another ID.

I do have partial reservations regarding the first point (partial because I don't think bringing facebook down should be the aim here)- kindly go a little more deeply through the econo-dynamics of Danish dairy industry in 2005-6. You'll see which countries all of a sudden became the key clientèle of Danish dairy products as soon as the Muslim world boycotted them.

Have you guys gone through the Southpark fanpage? do you guys realise that how much the gooras hate us? whats the reason behind it? Now don't tell me that western media is behind this and blah blah! The government has taken the right step.
Whole Facebook should be banned.
And for those people who are asking that its not a good step, should be ashamed of their existence. No one among us is a muslim until he/she loves Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) more than his/her parents, children and other loved ones. And you people are giving such comments for facebook?

I mean you guys are ridiculous. When a page like this comes about or with the whole Danish incident everyone went nuts , yet when death threats are going out from your side you don't say a thing? When the random offices and plazas' windows in our country are broken, what is said?? When roads are blocked , tyres are burned , public facilities like traffic lights , bus stops etc. are being trashed?? Shops being gutted.

And it's not about following anyone or as to not have a personal opinion but about showing unity and agreement againgst the double standard of facebook. The simple matter is that facebook deletes profiles, pages, groups on violation of rules, (one of my friend's profile was deleted) But it is not taking action againgst this group which is againgst it's rule of page spreading racist/hatred.

I've to absolutely agree with what doc and reddevils have to say.. though i'm sure that doc didn't say anything of that all in good faith, but still he's making a lot of sense - whatever the intentions..

the thing is, why overreact in such an infantile manner to something that wouldn't even make any difference? what would those cartoons take away from your religious teachings or beliefs, i just wonder? :S above all, just consider how would have our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) reacted to them had he been here? they are just some stupid cartoons that are to be made by some antagonists - with no moral values or regard to others' beliefs - and whose only aim is to see you guys go all out and then enjoy you guys doing some crazy $hit (as is the norm)...

And I dont support the idea of govt. banning the facebook whatsoever... why should it be banned? I mean there aren't just muslims living in pakistan, or are they? what about the christians, the hindus, the atheists, the militant atheists (like doc ) etc. who also form part of the population? why should they be slugged by taking such extreme measures? will they not develop a resentment for muslims if the govt. goes ahead with the ban? you guys just love to be hated, dont you?

Its a matter of personal choice whether someone boycotts facebook or otherwise, and I believe that there's no need to put up a sanctimonious display in front of all others and yet do all the wrong $hit when no body is there to see you.. It's all about giving out a message that we care, of course they will suffer loss to some extend since we all know nothing is free in this world. They're gaining something to provide you free services like yahoo, google, facebook, hotmail etc. On the other hand I realize that a huge traffic has been generated taking this matter serious and making lot of group against that page and facebook was profited with that indirectly but this is not our motive to give them a loss but to raise our protest peacefully.
They make statistics of activity to their websites, they will surely notice that a huge amount of people didn't login for a day as a peaceful protest.

Compelling Muslims to boycott facebook isn't a trap at all. When someone silently or at least peacefully boycotts then nothing bad happens but, yes, it seriously hits their pockets as well. The real problem and cause of devising such traps by them is because of the not-so-hidden & already-present barbaric, blood thirsty and violent beast inside our beloved super-muslim mullahs who have ignorant, illiterate masses beneath them obeying their every order blindly as a word from GOD. And that's how we, unfortunately, fall in their trap by destroying vehicles, property and looting money of our OWN fellow MUSLIMS and CITIZENS (just as doc mentioned).
So as I said, trap doesn't work if someone or masses boycotts/boycott facebook peacefully (according to the free will). It will fail rather. Because all they want is the world to hear from us that "go kill that kafir and go burn that kafir" (as rightly said by bango that people start raising such senseless slogans). Peaceful boycotting is never a trap. In fact it will hit them hard.
