LHC issues notice to PTA on plea to ban Facebook

LAHORE -:

         Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry of the Lahore High Court on  Tuesday issued notice to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority secretary to  reply until Wednesday (today), on a petition seeking a ban on Facebook, which is  holding a competition of caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Islamic Lawyers  Movement filed the petition through Chaudhry Zulfiqar advocate, who stated that  a competition was announced on Facebook on April 20 which would continue until  May 20, asking all the members of the website to create their caricatures to  participate in the competition. Zulfiqar said under the law no practice against  Islam could be allowed in the country. He told the court that the website,  having various features against the injunctions of Islam, is banned in various  countries. Zulfiqar submitted that there were 45 million users of Facebook in  Pakistan, adding that the PTA was responsible for its spread in Pakistan. He  said the PTA has already blocked various websites in the country but was  reluctant to ban Facebook. He said students and various segments of the society  have already started protests in the country, which could be harmful for the  public property. He requested the court to issue directions to PTA to put an  immediate ban on the use of Facebook in the Pakistan

Agreed.

Pakistan's stance is still very important. Because despite the ''amreeka ki ghulami'' talks, many Muslim countries still look up to Pakistan to determine their future stance. Especially the smaller central asian countries, even part of the Arab world, and Africa still consider Pakistan as a fort of Islam.

They understand that we're being led by greedy s0bs, and they also see that still, Islam is the dearest to Pakistani laymen.

They're totally different scenarios - your father may ask you to quit smoking a million times and his requests may go in vain, but I'm sure you wouldn't stand there unmoved when someone comes up and bashes a slap across his face.

Compelling Muslims to boycott facebook isn't a trap at all. When someone silently or at least peacefully boycotts then nothing bad happens but, yes, it seriously hits their pockets as well. The real problem and cause of devising such traps by them is because of the not-so-hidden & already-present barbaric, blood thirsty and violent beast inside our beloved super-muslim mullahs who have ignorant, illiterate masses beneath them obeying their every order blindly as a word from GOD. And that's how we, unfortunately, fall in their trap by destroying vehicles, property and looting money of our OWN fellow MUSLIMS and CITIZENS (just as doc mentioned).
So as I said, trap doesn't work if someone or masses boycotts/boycott facebook peacefully (according to the free will). It will fail rather. Because all they want is the world to hear from us that "go kill that kafir and go burn that kafir" (as rightly said by bango that people start raising such senseless slogans). Peaceful boycotting is never a trap. In fact it will hit them hard.

Well, I agree with you on most of the points there (in fact all of them).. I dont really have any issues with someone boycotting FB per se, as I even mentioned in my previous post, its a matter of personal choice.. But what I believe is that govt. shouldn't intervene in such matters of personal nature and should rather let the people decide for themselves and let them make their own choices..

The second thing with which I dont really agree is the way people amplify the situation.. I mean, there's no need to let the rest of the world know about your self-righteousness and that you love your religion more than anyone else out there... and as I even noted earlier, majority of such people are plain hypocrites.. so that makes it even more absurd..

Thirdly, this whole idea of May 20 came about as a result of the overreaction of some idiot fanatics who had extended some very nice death threats to the creators of the South Park cartoon.. So, its a mess made by none others, but people from among ourselves, who have led the rest of us into such a situation.. there's no one else to blame..

My point is, boycotting in this situation is a matter of personal choice, it shouldn't be made a means to trot out ones superiority of righteousness and religious allegiance over the others...

Anything which isn't white, isn't necessarily black, you know what I mean, right?

Stopping drone attacks isn't what all of us sitting in our houses may do. But boycotting facebook is something we can. And if we can, why not stop atleast one slap?

I dont like moderately enlightened people when it comes to Islam, Islam's teaching are FINAL and we are being brain-washed these days, these people are on a Serious mission.
