Not every sub is suitable for IB. These 8" are not either cos their surround has been changed. Sub needs to have a stiff suspension (spider) to compensate for the spring effect that an enclosure provides. There are some subs specially designed for this purpose. But if done properly i think most subs can be used this way. But only for sq and not for spl

Maddy bhai has replied to your questions very well. Not every sub is suitable for it but almost every sub CAN be made to fit an IB alignment. QTS, Spider, Acoustic suspension (surround etc), Xmax, Power handling these determine the usability of a sub in an IB setup.

This will not work in hatchbacks cos sealing the baffle from canlbin is very difficult.
