Guard Coolant/ Antifreeze

Some people say it contains acidic contents, so Guard Coolant is harmful for engine as it is likely to corrode engine from inside.

That's not true. The purpose of the coolant is to prevent corrosion, why would the company add acidic content in the coolant. I am using Guard's green coolant from 3 years, recently had to open the engine for some repairs and there were no signs of corrosion.

You are right. My only concern is that they have not mentioned the contents of the green colored guard coolant. Nobody thus knows what that green liquid is composed of. Only customer feedback is the yardstick to evaluate the quality of this coolant.
My car's user manual recommends ethylene glycol based coolant...
Caltex coolant was good, but it's not available at the moment. However, while using Caltex coolant, the radiator of my car got choked.
Apparently, from comments of the members of this forum, it seems like guard coolant is not a bad option.
I would carry out the anti-freeze test of this coolant and would share my experience in this regard...

Caltex orange should only be used only after flushing the system completely of old coolant. It forms a gel-like substance, when mixed with conventional coolant, that can choke the cooling system.

Old coolant was completely flushed and radiator was rinsed fully along with radiator bottle, still my radiator choked with orange colored Caltex coolant...

Did you purge the engine block using an airblower? Some coolant always remains in the block if you don't do that, around half to one litre.

forced water with pressure to purge the radiator of residual fluids in the radiator and engine. Anyways, chances of mistakes cannot be ruled out as the whole process is conventionally manual. So, some traces of old coolant might be there. But old coolant too was Caltex Coolant. I think caltex coolant is ethylene glycol based....

all coolant are ethylene glycol based - the difference is the additives, caltex coolant is Organic Acid Technology while oldschool green is inorganic silicated salts, called OAT and IAT if you want to google it. when both combine the coolant becomes jelly. OAT coolant is long life 5 year 100,000 kms coolant.

so when changing coolant for any reason (even if similar technology) its recommended to flush system with mild acid, that way the "dropped out" residue and corrosion from system walls is also scrubbed off. - tap water is used at low pressure to flush out everything for 10 minutes. Once done drain all water best as you can (use air blower etc if possible) - then fill with 50% capacity of neat coolant and rest with water (distilled etc)

I have put guard coolant of green color for about three hours in the freezer. I have found out that it did not freeze. So, it seems to be anti-freeze. Since, I do not have instruments to measure temperature so I can't say how much the temperature fell down below 0 degrees Centigrade...

Guard filters are very good quality, which makes me think that their coolant should be ok to use. I'm going to try it soon.

I have experience with guard coolant (RED) in my suzuki cultus 2016.
I think its just Coloured Water , nothing more than that.

Actually I don't feel any single minor difference between using tap water and this guard coolant ,my car still runs on same temperature and still overheat after a long drive with AC (in summers) and above all , its quality is pathetic just touch that soo called coolant it seems like someone mix colour in water and packed at home

no car manual suggests guard coolant. read owner manual and put that coolant in ur car which oem recommended

your car wont magically start to run cool with coolant - its job is to prevent corrosion, cavitation and freezing.

Most work of raising boiling point is done by the radiator cap.

If your system has corrosion covering the whole system (orange coating) then your cooling system would be 45% less efficent - You need to descale it with acid first.

Secondly - you need to make sure the concentration of coolant is correct, Somehow people assume that one small bottle is enough and they dont bother to read the concentration on the product or even bother to know their cars capacity.

I put 3 bottles of 1 litre in my Cultus and i have driven it almost 7k kilometer after that and i honestly not feel even 0.1% difference in any thing.i don't have that much technical knowledge but the thing is
Practically there is no difference in using water and guard coolant,
Although it is really cheap but even my 700 RS are not worth it.

Brother i know ,company doesn't recommend guard coolant. I am just sharing my experience that there is no difference in water and that coolant.its really cheap but still not worth it

I have used Guard green in my Khyber ever since I got it 4 years ago. I properly flushed it with citric acid before using, and made sure to use a 50:50 coolant/distilled water mixture. I change it every two years.

There is no rust, no cavitation; the head is remarkably clean from the inside. It has never overheated, even when I traveled at 120-140 from on M1 and M2 a few times, or when I'm stuck in severe traffic in the summer.

I would have used Caltex orange, but there was a leak in my heater core, and I needed a coolant that was widely available for topping up purposes (Caltex wasn't).

You are a rare person, most people just pour the coolant bottle and expect it to remove corrosion from inside the engine and radiator.
