Now the question is:

How do you compare Guard Filter with Toyota Thai Filter??

One is OE and one is a high quality replacement.

Firstly, remember guard is not having only one type of filters as was cutted up & checked in the picture. They have filters for all types of cars, and our more than 70% clients only use the guards filters too. Not because they are good and reliable. No. They only choose guard because these are cheaper. That?s all.
And when we cut them open, then can understand the real meanings.

Now for me, the most important is the filter meadia. I?ve literly seen and felt thousands times that leppon?s filter media is far better than guard from every aspect. Its like semi synthetic. While guard?s filter media is just similar to hard-paper and there is absolutely nothing special.
Recently I?ve done the similar experiment too and checked everything. But give me one good reason to post my findings/results/pictures/calculations here at this forum? Will you or anyone else will believe that leppon?s filter is better and will start using that? No. absolutely no. so why should I spend my energy on such un-productive activity to convince people who are already very much satisfied with guard and believer that best oil in the world for all the cars is havoline 20/50.

A filter that has poor surface area of filter media, a bypass valve that is a joke and no information of the manufacturer is called "poor product"

Just like you want to only buy "MADE IN DEUTSCHLAND" oils because they are german - no matter if other more global names make better blends for lower money. - How can you say that just because you "FEEL" that leppon is good it must be the height of lube filtration standards.

get your priorities inline. And I do not believe LM is a big share holder of the Pakistani market, they will be big if they are supplying to shipping, industrial, agricultural, railway, military and other outfits in Pakistan. small passenger car engines are called "breadcrumbs" in this business.

@xulfiqar Sir aisay nah kahain yar. some people have sensitive hands and can analyze things by rubbing n touching them. May be this skill can be used to check oil specs and filter specs. maybe its a SUPER POWER.

I agree with you. Here on PW there is a bhair Chal, not only on PW rather in Pakistan. We keep on buying Mehran/Corolla which is again a Bhair Chal, while talking about oil filters everyone thinks guard is better where as I myself say that Leppon is 100 times better than Guard again a bhair chal, same is the case with car detailing everyone's running after Megauire and dodo where as if someone else recommends any other brand(which he finds far better than these two brands) he is bashed in reply. I also have come to a conclusion that there isnt any point of wasting energy here. Do what your mind says. No offence to anyone...

The OE actually followed a quality test of Toyota - thats why its got a toyota stamp on it. The Guard one is made to the same standard but was not subject to a toyota test - hence no stamp. In this case we did our own tear down and looked at it.

Mostly such items are the same performance and rarely fall to 95% in some odd cases.

There is no point of comparing the filter and internal stuff when the main component is poor. Firstly compare the rubber on the neck of both Leppon and Guard which is the main cause of leakage. Compare it once it is used and taken off.

How is it poor? The sealing O ring never leaks unless the filter is loose I have seen Pakistani mechanics leaving them loose just like the sump bolt, I have also seen them not check the filter mount stand on the engine, some have left the burnt rubber O ring and tried to tighten a new filter on it which leaked. removed and cleaned the stand, no leaks.

I have never come across a filter that had a missing O ring - yes after 5~10,000 kms of service the O ring becomes hard and at that time the filter is replaced anyway. I have installed thousands of oil filters on all sorts of engines - how come you had one that leaked? did you compare it with another similar one for faulty workmanship?

The rubber will be squished after use. Its normal, it has to deform to make a seal. As you said you yourself never installed the filter I cannot agree that the filter will be leaking a few drops just by the squished rubber, Oil is under pressure when it enters the filter. Imagine if a sump bolt can leak a drop under no oil pressure what sort of oil leak can you expect from an oil filter which has oil under pressure. It will empty out the sump very shortly if your filter O ring was leaking.

guard can be trusted for 5k drain interval
Since the filter is sold in massive quantity in PK.........fakes are all around
and if by accident you get a fake, u cant risk it for high interval change
i think i will stick to leppon for 10k interval

Btw I didn't buy this filter in Islamabad or Rawalpindi. Bought it from a random shop when I was in Gujranwala last weekend

Even with the piece of crap bypass design. That bypass valve does not even close off properly.
