Yes but you two seem to be missing the comparison of an suv and a pickup truck. Two completely different territories. And no, age doesn't make up for the difference. Plus even these vigos aren't bulletproof like the old hilux, they also have some serious issue with the diesel

its really simple. go see the vehicle, check the body, paint and lines of the vehicle, once thats clear, check the documents, once that is clear, then get an expert to check the mechanicals.Is this your first experience with buying a secondhand car?And did you decide on the prado?

I am making prado shortlist but now tring to see above 1999. From 2000 onwards but budget will need to be increased. I was good to spend 2M on purchase and then resrve half M for immediate expenses. If consider models above 2000 price goes up and due to 1KD engines after 2001 my choice become more squeezed. As I am told to remain away from startup 1KD DRD engines.

I highly respect collective advice being made. All wants me to do adventure on road while driving rather than doing in workshops.

I still hope wont there be any few sooper excellent ones who have been taken care well. But I wonder how to be able to find them and recognize them?

Look into the 96 to 99 models. Those are original 1kz. If you don't want auto, there are versions of it with 3l and 5l, those are economical and proper workhorses with no issues, and since they are manual, these are cheaper.
For starters, when going through adverts, look for ones with proper descriptions, next try to stya away from vehicles that are owned for less than 2 years.
Thirdly try to ask the owner technical questions, only technical people can run their vehicles well.

I just want your valuable thoughts about considering pre built 4x4 vehicales. Is there any possible benefits. As someone has already put efforts and time. However I know there can be chances of abuse too. Here is one 86. Its only 1.8M

with the budget you have and being first SUV, would recommend avoiding such adventurous vehicles
2 mil plus 0.5 mil would get you a good enjoyable Prado

Don't buy junk. buy an OEM vehicle, 1kz prado, 2.0-2.2 million for a clean one, buy it, spend 200k on regular preventive maintenance along with new tires and have a smile on your face whenever you drive.

Sir, a well maintained diesel is something in an SUV that a petrol can't even dream of touching, for practicality purposes, always a diesel, for showboating purposes, always a petrol

Im continuing my search. Have not yet physically visits and inspection. Also approched some person in contact with Isbd Jeep Club it will be good If I can visit any of their off road venture and personally meet LC owners.

he is checking the engine blowby, to see if its consuming oil or not, if smoke is coming out of the dipstick, it is consuming oil

I dont know I feel its not ethical to put pics of vehicales whose ad is currently for sale. As some vehicales are identified even if their plates are not shown.
