HAVAL H6 gearing in deep water puddle

Hello everyone

I wanted to consult you regarding something that's come to my attention.

A lot of cars especially Chinese ones (i.e. Haval H6) do not have manual gears (triptronic, paddle shifters) which makes it near to impossible to drive in standing water just like we faced in this monsoon season without getting water into the engine due to user being unable to lock the car into lower gear .

Cars that have paddle shifters or have low gear option such as L or B in the gear selector can be locked into those low gears in such conditions and water getting in the engine or exhaust can be avoided however column shifter in Haval H6 only allows you to select D which complicates the situation and many owners have ended up getting stuck in water. Any solution for this?

What does water getting into the intake have anything to do with low gears? To be fair, the higher an engine would rev in a low gear, the more air it would want to suck and more water.

Water does not enter your exhaust, that was and is a myth.

An engine is an air pump, and a really good air pump. Water cannot enter from where air is exiting at high speed.

Water getting into the engine has more to do with the intake design than gears.

I think @pwuser153796752163 has nailed it. Going through deep water one has go go very slowly so that one does not create a wave big enough so that it ends up being sucked into the intake of the engine.
