Help Needed About Corolla 2.OD

I have owned diesel corollas since a little over 11yrs.

1-is that a good car means powerful engine and body wise?
The engine is definitely quite powerful

2-i heard mostly 2od,s had done (hisa) work??
By hisa work i believe you are referring to the suspension. That really depends on how much the car has been abused or maintained. Its not like the suspension will go soft way earlier than a petrol car

3-wts the fuel consumption of new born engine per liter in city and on long routs??
city, highway combined 15km/l would be a reasonable number

4-i also heard allmost 2.OD gots heatup..
I have never come across a situation like this. It is recommended to flush out the radiator and refill with coolant and not water every two years.

5-my daily travelling 30 or 40 km only in city so pls suggest me that can i go for 2.od or not??
I would definitely recommend a diesel corolla

also tell me whats about starting problem in winters?
Again i have never encountered such problems. As stated in a earlier response, as long as the glow plugs are working and the battery is the recommended size you shouldnt have any problems. Extreme cold does make a difference, and by extreme cold i mean colder than it gets in Pakistan unless you live in himalayas or something

and in closing as long as you dont compromise on maintenance a new corolla diesel will give you years of trouble free service. Replace everything with original parts, avoid aftermarket alterations, use high quality engine oil and filter. I have never used a guard filter. All a diesel vehicle needs is oil/filter changes on time.

I have 2004 2.0D Saloon 150000km driven and one 1996 2.0D its driven more than 200000km.

Yes it is powerful car both engine and bodywise.

I own a 2004 2.0D Saloon and I changed the whole front suspension parts after 7 years in 2011, although they were still in working condition and I could have used them for I guess three more years.Still have the old parts with me.

3-wts the fuel consumption of new born engine per liter in city and on long routs??
in 2004 2.0D Saloon,Its about 11km/litre in City with FULL TIME AC ON.And on long routes about 14/15km/litre with FULL TIME AC ON.In 2000 shape the consumption is for some reason better than the model of 2002 and onwards.

Not a single incident of over heating in last more than seven years in my 2004 model 2.0D Saloon with thermostat valve in place and with auto fan settings(people remove thermostat and chnage fan setting, which is not advisable at all, its a wrong practice).And I replaced the company's coolant after about 100000km with Toyota's Genuine Coolant.The radiator does not have a single drop of plain water.
I have one 1996 mode 2.0Dl, its engine is in pathetic condition, still when I just replaced the radiator its fine with AC and automatic fans...And surprisingly its long route consumption is on accasions better than my 2004 2.0D Saloon...

If you can afford.

Maintenance
Just oil and filter change at 5000km.Fuel filter at around 10000km or may be 15000.And frequent cleaning of air filter plus replace at around 20000km or according to its condition.

Noise
Sound proofing in 2002-2007 model is very poor.So if you are not annoyed with noise of 2c engine then go for that model.

Starting Problem
No starting problem at all if battery and engine are okay.

Brakes issue of 2002-2007 Corollas
Very poor brakes.If you can get 2.0D Saloon with ABS brakes that would be good.Although I am used too with mine without ABS now but its really a terrible thing.....Very poor braking......

well corolla 2.0D is no less than a fauji,it will wear out but still running

Wrong bro... Diesel engine are meant to be driven rough and tough with hard rpm footie.
Trust me if you dive below 2000 rpm you will ruin your car

I had diesel cars and my mechanic told me this in 2009. This is a very good technique which i follow and i never had any issue after following this technique

I am going to buy 2oD Saloon 2005 . 1975cc Diesel Engine with very good condition.
Mostly i shall drive it in hilly area like Azad Kashmir.

thank you for your valuable input. I have a 2000 2D that my local roadside mechanic feels need an engine overhaul. symptoms he eludes to are blow, dark smoke on acceleration and long starts in winter.
it has a little over 200K. no engine work has ever been done. I am living abroad and use in only twice a year when I visit Islamabad. I visit the nearby hill resorts and enjoy its torque when driving.
its interior and exterior are in mint condition. I would like to take care of the engine so it stays in good working condition and I can keep using it for many years to come.
can you please find out for me a reliable place where I can get it diagnosed and worked on if necessary.
