You will face problems getting accomodation in Phandar during shandur festival as it is the nearest stop in GB PTDC will be fully booked. Other than PTDC no better option is available at Phander but if u r not stayin at Phandar just book rooms in advance at Gupis

Yes you can cross shandur from chitral to gilgit while festival is going on. But there will be some hustle due to tourists must be going up and down.

Landlines have timings throughout in baltistan.. i guess till 7 or 8 pm there will be no call.
Try this number in the morning..

And its hard to contact them on landline.. once your call is placed, take attendent's mobile number.

Gilgit to Skardu / Phander by Car

I am planning a road trip from Lahore to Skardu with family on Corolla. I have been to Hunza and Kunjerab before on City two years ago and it was a pleasant experience. I am concerned about Skardu road. Can we reach by Car to Skardu or it is better to hire a jeep from Gilgit. I am thinking of parking my car in Gilgit and then move towards Skardu, Deosai and on return take my car from Gilgit and drive back due to poor road conditions.
