@ Op, Yes it will melt the housing of the default light (check the material of the housing from its back if it is plastic then you should go for the metal on) i have the experience of installing HID in my daily routine ride i.e Honda Cd 70 2010 model from last 3 years.
For the whole process first of all you need
1. Good experienced electrician especially installing the HID in bikes ( because majority can do it but after installation the repairs are the main headaches)
2. Good quality HID Kit. (better if you can find any good piece from the car's decoration shops)
3. Metal material Head Lamp
4. 8-10 AMP Dry or wet battery
5. Good Wiring (Task done by your trusted electrician)
