Injectors for 1 kd engine comes in a set of 4, either all replaced or none. I will get them checked once i will have any issues. For now lets just wait as they are really expensive to replace.

Yes, and testing requires paying to have them removed and checked, which is a pain as well. No point to disassemble a perfect running truck in my opinion.

2018 onwards is 1GD. 1GD is relatively new, but later 1kds are pretty reliable. Can easily reach 500000 km, on basic maintenance.

A lot of toyota dealerships have been insisting on this for diesel fortuner and hilux. The threat in this case is rejection of warranty claims.

If using mineral oil like delo gold, change interval is 2500-4000 max, for fully synthetic you can easily stretch more than 7000 km. Which car do you have and mileage?

Modern engines have mandated design of not just cleaner exhaust but also usage of resources (engine oils etc)

One shouldn't be surprised at this being the case in Pakistan anymore. Offensively early and wasteful oil changes are an omnipresent scam, dealerships have the final word and can threaten warranty denial arbitrarily, consumers either have no knowledge, no rights or no practical avenues to pursue in case their rights are violated. The fat cat lawyers are on the companies' retainers and can fend off any bothersome claims from the peasants they shill their cars to if any one of them turns noisy enough to inconvenience them.

Pretty much all oil dealers/car dealerships will recommend oil changes at way earlier intervals than is even necessary for modern vehicles. Yes, everyone is being scammed. Yes, dealerships will never agree to put their 2,500km oil change warranty denial conditions in writing.

Not only toyota, all companies in Pakistan recommend oil change 3000-5000 max for mineral oil. Mainly because pakistan is categorised as "harsh conditions'.
These same engines are serviced at 10000 kms in Australia.

A very easy way to find this out is to get this recommendation written down on a letterhead from the toyota dealership and signed by the service manager.

Its hilarious to watch them run away from such.. because the dealer will be fined very heavily for this.

In a nutshell, its a hearsay and pomp game being played on naive customers in Pakistan and as less than 20% owners actually show up for maintenance and the other 80% send their drivers and other staff, the dealer knows they can milk this situation for every penny.

I don't have it yet but planning to upgrade and found the conversation in few threads where people were discussing how the Toyota Dealerships are forcing them to change at 2.5K while the manual states otherwise.

The situation is exaggerated, dealerships aren't milking anyone. Fewer than 10% of owners opt for dealership maintenance or oil changes. Most choose local mechanics or oil shops.Secondly, why does a dealership needs to give you a signed letterhead confirming oil changes at 2500km? when they have already provided an offical owner manual with every car. Everything is already mentioned as per the local climate, oil change recommendations, service intervals etc We are stubborn enough to never open it.

You don't need to ask anyone when to do service, maintenance , oil changes. Follow the manual, I used to change oil every 5000 at dealership (as per the owner manual) toyota never voided the warranty, never objected when you follow the manual.
Secondly, don't think , Hilux is a no brainer , another level. I would say one of the best vehicles for pakistani roads. Only downside is the ride, it is rough and tough. If comfort is more important than drive experience, then you'll need to spend 4 lacs extra for better suspension. But I like the ride its rough and tough nature.

There is no way this engine has a 2500 kms oil change interval, 2500 kms is for ancient engines like the vw beetle which uses no oil filter, has very dirty combustion and has an oil bath air filter.

This engine is also used in australia and in africa in offroad fleets which is several times more dusty and torturous than any road in pk.

If you look at the owner manual it tells you to use a synthetic CK+ rated multi viscosity oil and replace at 10000 kms. The 2500 kms oil change is usually on a pretty banner at the dealer and also at dumbass oil change shops who want to milk the owner by peddling the mantra of “naee rahegi”

This isnt new. People were proudly doing 500 kms oil changes in corolla 2.0D sold by indus motors just because “oil kaala hogya” and dealerships happily would take the money.

And dealerships being the lunatics and morons they are in Pk were filling them with sae50 oil in the name of “sunn engine” - these cars would not start below 10C at all as the oil behaved like glue in the sump.

Well owner manual does say oil change at 2500 km for 1kd ftv in severe conditions. Pakistan does come under severe because of extreme hot climate and dusty air.

I am maintaining 1 kds with AMS oil 5w30 ck+ diesel oil and interval is 15000 kms with 2 air filters replacements.

GD series lasts more if the AD blue is equipped.
