Fuel filter will get black by that mileage, but that doesnt mean its clogged, its fuel “throughput ” is what decides its life.

Any country will have similar fuel issues. i get to see it a lot here in USA too, Infact my own personal car a while back was a diesel mercedes benz which was facing fuel starvation issues even with new filter, the tank filter was about 80% blocked with junk and debris. I think I shared a picture of that here too.

first of all 1KD-ftv is not newer turbo engine

It's newer than whatever engine needs a 2500/5000/8000 km oil change on seven liters of modern engine oil. Especially those in actual service in working vehicles like Hiaces/Coasters.

This is a picture I found on the web, its from an old mercedes diesel and is quite coarse media, this is actually the fuel strainer which is in the tank, then the engine room has 2 actual filters of different density to clean the fuel.

7.5 liters of engine oil costs quite dear nowadays

And throwing it out every 2500-4500 kms means one of two below

Toyota have made an incrediblly garbage engine

Its a ripoff

Can you imagine the cost to run a fleet of these? Mucho higher than any luxury car i would say.

For shiggles, lets ask these same 2500 kms oil change brigade on whats the coolant and brake fluid change intervals? Or even the autobox and diffs?

Do you know in owner manual it says to change at 25k km but here the diesel quality is not really good, most of the 1kd Hilux from UK or Thailand get nozzle clogged issues due to the quality of diesel. Anyhow i wont go into debate as my car have been running excellent if u timely changed as we have seen many 1kd hilux struggled by not timely changing the fuel filter and nozzle clogged. Also i have noticed one time fuel average was not good and found out i didnt change the fuel filter for more than 18k km, changed the black tar paper fuel filter and voila the response and fuel average got better from tht time i m changing fuel filter after every 15-16k km to keep my 1KD healthy.

PS toyota dealership change fuel filter at 12k km which is very early to change even the fuel filter is half black they will still change it

no need to debate with you boy, once u get experience of engine problem you learned it. I wont make a same mistake, so i always take precaution and keep my car engine healthy. To me taking care of engine is more important rather than taking it to risk which is more costly.

BTW my car have aftermarket K&N air filter which take more dust compare to oem paper filter, like i said i always take precaution.

How about you come to Karachi, physically check them in toyota workshop and get to know the quality of diesel fuel. All the german diesel cars are rusting in garage or empty plot. Nobody buying any diesel German car but i love diesel engine as i myself have 3 diesels suv/sut.

Even i dont follow this 2500km engine oil interval wheras i myself change it at 8k km by following the oil stick viscosity as well, i know engine oil cost a lot but engine fixing cost 10x more or replacing nozzle cost 5x more. Just know tht i wont repeat the same mistake again by extending engine oil life or fuel filter, 50-100ppm diesel is still consider as low quality diesel according to other countries but in Pakistan its still better than 500ppm diesel from few years back!

i have taken upto 12months hardly driven 3000km a year but do check the oil stick viscosity, if there is stickiness tht still good to go but many dealerships suggest to change at 6months which is useless and waste of money.

i used to own Audi Q7 3.0tdi 2009 model for few years, tht thing had monster lower end torque and love the way it drove. I still own German car but sadly its not diesel car its ev Audi etron boring car

This is the problem, the econobox/"third-world-special" owners that think they own legitimate luxury cars, spending needlessly like they're on Pimp My Ride. Along with zero knowledge, crap grammar, and poor taste, they have a natural inclination towards wasting resources. Bonus points for owner's manual in genuine plastic wrap, throwing litter out the window, parking diagonally inches from the storefront like they own the strip mall, etc.

Could make for a nice bingo card.
