Homage UPS where to buy?

Hmm i heard homage new ups are giving problems they turn off after some time of usage.

I bought the mercury one for 6500 unused from some one and bought 165 AMP Volta battery for 9k. Wiring for 1 k and did the installation by my self of whole house

You seem to have paid too much for the battery but not sure though. You could have bought OSAKA IT 1500 for Rs. 10,000 and it is around 200 to 220 amps. By the way both OSAKA and VOLTA come from the same company.

I have been using Homage 2000 for the past almost 1 year with 2x120 Volta batteries. It worked fine during this time but only that i have noticed for the past 1 month the battery water is drying up like anything....nearly 1 litre is consumed every week by both the batteries....and after the electricity resumes, the recharging by UPS continues for much longer period of time than it used to be. and also the batteries are usually hot whenever touched.
I have been observing the system quite closely and never had to top up the batteries for the first 7-8 months and they were never felt hot either during this period .... despite of having 3-4 hours of regular electricity shutoff's....

Any pointers where the problem could be ....Regards

In my experience this problem occurs when the batteries get old and do not want to retain the charge. The UPS has to put extra effort and because of that the battery water turns into fumes and evaporates.

Try getting your batteries charged from a good shop and tell them to change the water (acid).

If you have some knowledge about chemicals, you can do this work at home even. Following is the procedure.

This should rectify the problem.

The explanation seems acceptable but regarding the solution .... a common opinion is that such process further deteriorates the situation and instead of any improvement the battery capacity declines even faster...I am not sure though...i have checked the gravity in all the cells it was higher than 1200 and the batteries were always topped up with distilled water....

battery ppl say that your UPS could be overcharging....again i am bit confused...

looking exact like homage and function wise also same. but the problem is when i went to college road last week, i found the price were quite low, for Homage 1kva Rs.7,000 and 2kva Rs. 10,000. and it was shocking and confusing because i have bought it for almost 17,000 a difference of 7,000 is clearly visible. what you say please comment and compare the quality of homage and aurora. (NOTE:there is no tax in metro for the 2kva Aurora UPS)

one is China made and other is Pakistani made.
The price of Pakistani (Karachi) Homage 1 KV UPS is Rs. 6900/- while the price of Chinese Homage 1 KV UPS is Rs. 10500/-.

both UPS are available in College Road, Rawalpindi.

Am using NS inverter 1000va with two Volta 150a batteries for last couple of months. It is not boiling batteries and neither I have any issues.

Previously I was using desi UPS and honestly, it was a PURE waste of money.

Btw, can NS UPS be modified using chip-mod for better charging? What is the approx cost and anyone using it?

They are over charging, there is only Rs. 500 price difference in both of the products. Pakistan assembeled is Rs. 500 cheaper...

Dude: I do not have a good experience with Homage dry batteries.

Last year, same month I purchased Two Homage VRLA dry batteries and four Volta Acid batteries.

Homage VRLA dry batteries operated ( 1 battery @ 1kva UPS ) with Homage UPS are now giving not more then 1 hour backup ( with two fans ).

However, Volta Acid batteries operated ( 2 batteries @ one 2kva UPS ) with NS UPS ( a korean brand UPS just like homage ) are still holding up! ( three - four backup with 3 lights and three fans )

This year, for my office, I had plans to purchase Homage UPS. I have some acquittance in Homage office - the guy told me NOT to buy homage UPS as all of them are being assembled locally in karachi and there is a SERIOUS concern about quality... they are getting lot of complains.

As a result, I purchased second hand 3kva APC UPS ... so far I am happy. I cannot recommend APC UPS for you coz I don know your circumstances - but if you even plan to purchase one, be EXTRA careful.

@fahadkhalil. Thanx for the detailed advise. I went to the market and couldn't find NS or mercury. There were many other locals which I didn't prefer.
I am personally using local 1kva homage with 200A battery. Working fine for me for last one year. Though I use it only on my lcd tv and a fan plus one energy saver. Never heard its low battery warning but I don't like its bizzzz sound and fan sound which is too loud but still acceptable.
My brother wanted to buy it and his budget was 20k so I just came back buying exactly the same setup as mine.
Lets hope it turns out as good as my previous one
