I own a 2017 Honda Automatic that I purchased as a used car. I’m facing a issue with battery drainage in winter. If the car is idle for two days, it won’t start. To address this, I bought a smart battery charger (12V, 10A).
After charging the battery for 4 hours, the charger indicated it was full. I installed the battery, drove the car for 5 km, and left it idle for 11 hours. When I tried starting the car again, it didn’t start. I charged the battery again, drove 5 km, and stopped at a shop for 15 minutes. Once again, the car wouldn’t start.
I suspected a battery issue and replaced it with a used one. The alternator was tested and found to be working fine 14.5 volt when i measured. Current leakage was measured at 350mA. Later, I had the battery checked by a Daewoo dealer. Initially, they said the battery wasn’t fully charged and replace battery was mentioned on battery tester. They kept it overnight, and the next day, they said the battery was okay.
The old battery now works fine for 40 hours idle condition started on 1st self
Today, I visited an auto electrician. He removed a tracker and directed the immobilizer switch, which was installed under the cup holder or near the gear. After these adjustments, the current leakage dropped to 0.22mA.
I have a few questions:
** 1. The battery dealer claims the issue might be with my charger being too fast, so it wasn’t charging the battery properly. They said the Daewoo charger charged it correctly, and that’s why it works now. Is this true?**
** 2. The immobilizer has now been bypassed, so the car starts when I place my keychain near the steering. Should I revert it back? The electrician said that in its current state, the immobilizer activates only when you rotate the key. Is this setup safe?**
** 3. What is the function of the original key remote?**
4. How many idle hrs honda city can be started easily ?
