Guys, Please help me.

I am planning and searching to buy a 3G Accord. But I have few questions on which your advice is required.

• I have heard parts are expensive, and mostly unavailable. one has to rush to scrapyards. Is it true?

• can i get accord maintained from any mechanic, or their are some specific persons doing this?

• What is the operating cost? I mean fuel average, definitely on CNG and petrol both?

• I have heard that the sunroofs leaks during wash and rain, and is un-repairable. Is it true?

• What is the price range for a good accord?

• What specifically should i be checking when buying accord?

• People only sells accord if it is giving trouble. Is this myth true?

Log daratay hain k resale nahi hai, parts mehangay hain, gadhay ka ghost hai....waghaira waghaira,, but I am desperately looking forward to buy a 3G. whats ur opinion. Bcuz i find this car an extreme of design with soberness, executive looks and luxury. rather being a 20 year old vehicle, its still a head turner, at least for me. kindly share your views.

Ans: Some Parts are expensive but not expensive than corolla n civic. Yes you have to go scrapyards for spare like body parts but engine parts are easily available.

Ans: Yes ..Any Good Mechanic can Fix it..

What is the operating cost? I mean fuel average, definitely on CNG and petrol both?

Ans. If Tuned Properly 10km/lit on petrol and i get 75Km with AC on CNG. One member is getting 150km on CNG.

Ans. Depend on cars condition.

What is the price range for a good accord?

Ans. For Good Accord like driven around 1 lakh will be around 340-450 (Punjab)

What specifically should i be checking when buying accord?

Accidented or not?

People only sells accord if it is giving trouble. Is this myth true?

Depends on seller....but mostly its true.

@afarooqi: Hashim answered all your answers correct, but let me tell you that ive never been to a scrap yard to buy parts for my accord, i always buy them from Nasir Autos in plaza, i can give u their number to you if u want, they have all parts available.

about the sunroof........mine used to leak, but once u get good rubber, it wont

Everything is available in market new but Tiwan & Korea from the shops and if u want for original japan then u need to visit old scarp yard.

If you are looking for a nice & non rust car, it is impossibe to get it cheep but if you are chasing cool car it would be around PKR 400k to 450K.

you are true that people only sell if it have some problem, if having zero problem then there is no need to sell the car becasue its cool look, long executive car, more space affordable price. If you go for new car like civic (1.2 Miliion) Accord (1.7K). if some one have it worth pkr 400k with all executive look, nice suspesion, very good speed and low repair cost if maintained properly it better than new cars.

Full japani suspension is available in the market. Head light available for 4000 pak rupees for pair. Tail lights available for same price 4000. both bumper new taiwan for 4000. if power steering is not working you can buy from scrap yard for 1200 to 1500 power pump.

tyres & wheels depending on your choice but only check rust if rust is there no one can treat it properly and its cancer for the whole vehicle.

Sunroof can be maintianed only spending some amount to changer rubber and tuning of motor.

Honda engine is most reliable engine in the world and for this accord every engine part is easliy available in new from the market.

Only need more time and efforts to spend one whole week to proper maintained the car and than enjoy your life

@latifax: need to correct one thing, its upto your choice if you want to buy Japanese, Korean or Taiwanese parts, all brand new, jap parts are easily available here.

you are right, japanies part of Honda Accord is also available in Rawapindi but i will cost more as i asked from one of the display center owner. All recent model of Civic, Toyota, Suzuki parts mostly from Korea or Taiwan and also from China too.

If you want to change four shacks of Honda Accord 87-88 it would cost for approx 25thousand but if you search in scrap yard, one can easily get very good japanies shock for 4 to 5 thousand.

yesteray i checked my accord for 0-100KM on petrolll......done in 13.57 seconds and its very good....

it wasnt tuned properly on petrol because i use this on CNG.......

checked CNG consumption from last 2 fillings...........locally in lahore i got 85 KM with AC 55 kg's...

Lahore say new parts kahan say mill jain gay ? anybody knows ???

if you do go for a swap i would suggest a little more powerful engine. a h22 non vtec engine would be perfect if you can find it. the B series will be much better but also very expensive

dear accord lovers,i m having very much trouble with my accord 87,its engine is weak,ayear back i overhauled it and spent about 35 thousands ,two times its came shaft is brokenit cost me 5000 and 9000rs each time,now ther is a sound like tak tak tak coming from engine, some mechanic tell its from main bearings some said from cam shaft but i dont know what to do now,but one thing is clear that in the morning when engine is cold, noise is low,as engine get heated it becomes louder,now please advise me what todo,a man told me to go for swap, now i m confused, i searched a lot in bilal gunj but could not find a16a engine for it, please advise me or solve my problem,i have not much money to buy even second hand mehran, God bless u people. im in lahore now,fi amman allah

same problem i had with me.....accord engine was weak and mechanic advised me to overhauled it.....but my friend is a mechanic also and he advised me for Accord its always better to swap engine rather then to overhauled it.....main reason was the cost.....new engine is even less expensive then overhauling...

then we went to Billllal gunj and check same model 3 engines and found one engine in mint condition...rate was a bit higher then other 2 pcs...i have given 27K with old engine and swaped.....brillitantly OK from last 1 year...performance outclasss.....i was lucky to get that very good engine at that time......

u wasted 35K to overhaul...that is too expensive

don't go for the A16a, i prefer swapping an A18 or a B20, u can exchange ur engine with them, they are bolt-ons and will not cost much. there are a lot of A18 here in karachi, dont know about lahore though
