I started reading this blog from the start.

Good to know there are people who can help me out.

Here is the query.

I am buying accord 1986-87 from my friend who bought it from an auction.
Car is in mint condition. Pata nahi kahan se pakar li us ne.... khair.. have to take decision by Wednesday 25-Nov-2009 as I have asked him to lend me the car for 2 days trial.

Everything is in working condition. About my friend he is my childhood friend is leye cheating ke to sawal hi nahi hai.
I want to know the following:
1) Availability of parts in karachi. (Plaza main kon se shops)
2) It has automatic transmission. Is it worthy to buy auto car. Agar auto transmission kharab ho to SHERSHA se mil jate hai kya? Also let me know about engine.
3) Monthly maintenance cost kya hai? (Engine Oil + Oil filter + Air Filter)

Don't consider me as a buyer jo baal ke khaal nikalta hai. Currently I own a Mehran and shifting from maintenance of boat to ship is something you Accord lovers do understand.

u can say that it's my family car

WOW! Now that is what I am talkling about! Those were the last of the Accords to have that floating couch feel. True luxury! That is an unbelievably clean Accord! Mashallah.

dear accord lovers,i m having very much trouble with my accord 87,its engine is weak,ayear back i overhauled it and spent about 35 thousands ,two times its came shaft is brokenit cost me 5000 and 9000rs each time,now ther is a sound like tak tak tak coming from engine, some mechanic tell its from main bearings some said from cam shaft but i dont know what to do now,but one thing is clear that in the morning when engine is cold, noise is low,as engine get heated it becomes louder,now please advise me what todo,a man told me to go for swap, now i m confused, i searched a lot in bilal gunj but could not find a16a engine for it, please advise me or solve my problem,i have not much money to buy even second hand mehran, God bless u people. im in lahore now,fi amman allah

i think your mechanic is an idiot - i redid my moms accord engine about a decade ago - and it never ever has failed on me, just replaced the t belt and waterpump thrice in 10 years - general maintenance

the reason accord engines fail is improper timing belt installation, the crank tdc mark is on the flywheel and local mechanics look for it on the crank sprocket - end up being 1 or 2 teeth off and your engine overheating and sounding like crap - there is also a trick to tension accord timing belt its a little different than regular engines

the accord original engine note resembles bmws rorty sound - seems like a dead crankshaft at 2000 rpms - but its not unless someone threw away the oil pressure jet located in the block

This is the most forgettable of the Accord designs, pop up headlamps and all. bleh.

just to add - never use a civic oil filter in your 87 accord - it does fit but it lacks a pressure input valve inside it - it will make the crank run dry when you start it - the original part is available its just a little longer in size and i think qaim and guard also manufacture it,

the part code should be 15400-PH4-016 - not confirmed on the last 3 digits - i get a box of german mann filters for my and my freinds accords and it lasts.
