Y complain about fuel.i didnt feel any fuel prob on my civic reborn or knocking or lacking power.so your saying the same excuse as honda for bad quality fuel or tested in international environments.if there cars are not suitable for pakistan so why they sell cars here.
@cityowners set up a gtg or meet and get united with opinions.then make some plan to file suit honda atlas.

according to the owner's manual, recomended fuel for city is 87-91 ron (min) and civic is 88 Ron (min), therefore to avoid knocking and pick issue you have to put a mixture of hioctane and petrol.

as for faults i think city fuel tank design is a serious fault,if you put fuel less then 8-9 liters it does not show up on the fuel gauge, i took to honda (this was couple of months ago when they were going to increase the price so you could only get rs500 worth of fuel), so the marketing manager at kalma chowk honda refused to let the mechanics check the car and told my sister to go and put more fuel and that there is no fault, the car was parked outside the showroom in veiwing distance of the manager (kalma chowk bracnh) but he refused to let the car in the garage.when i went to get the my civic serviced i asked the machanics and they agreed that it was a design fault and that they have 5000 written complaints about it! and still they are doing NOTHING.they knew about it and refused to let the car get checked the name of the marketing manager who refused to get the car checked is saleem baig.

i have a city 2010 and faced lag in second gear and loss of pick with ac on the moment i bought it. I have no complaints though regarding ac's cooling not reaching the rear seats, where my two cheeky monkies sit.

I had been driving it on 100% hi octane and it was very responsive and gave much better mileage than super. I filled it once with super from pso pindi sadar during a trip there and it started knocking again. I hope the situation will improve when the engine gets used to hi octane again.

I love my car. I have been to murree several times with family and boot filled with luggage and the car drove pretty alright, though i would've preferred if it had more torque on small gears.

My advice to all city owners, use 100% high octane from a good pump and insha Allah you would never want to exchange your car with a corolla as this car is so much better than a corolla in every way.

yes another very serious fault, i think you can sue the mosquito for intruding and honda for conspiring with it

hmm well if youre thinking of filing a case maybe you should do it collectively not separately, so that all of you can join in to become one party instead of having 100s of cases waiting for separate decisions.
if youre serious about it then start a campain bring as many people together as you can.you might need to consult a lawyer because if youre trying to sell your vehicle then im not sure if honda or the courts can have it inspected?
i bought the honda city and civic this year the build quality is extrememly poor, however regarding this particular problem i do think that hioctane fuel solved the problem of the pick..therefore the knocking and pick issue, to my mind is because of the poor quality fuel that is sold rather then honda being at fault.however i still think that the product is not worth the price that i payed for and something should be done about it.a media campain is a better option if it doesnt work then you can think of going to court..
its good that someone is trying to take a stand atleast.....

@qadarkhan very true sir.I think all those people who own cities and experiencing this problem should go to consumer court.And as far as i think the message already been spread and spreading that Honda Pakistan has nothing to do with customers they just wana sale.

Another suggestion is play on internet if honda pakistan is not listening go to some international honda customer services and complaint about the honda and than there islamabad or faisalabad outlets and do mention there names.

I think you guys should write to "Yukimitsu Miyagi" he seems to be the most relevant person and being foreigner might put up the case. Simply write "collectively" addressing him; I am sure letter will reach him. If its not get through; "together" visit their plant on Multan Road; having 3-4 customers with similar complaint on the door they must do something. If they dont; simply record their reaction using cell phone etc and publish on YouTube and here. And if they do entertain try to reach the root cause and also share here so that other people facing similar issue can learn what actually is the problem and rectify it accordingly.

Good luck guys. I am really sad to read all this. As told before; I loved keeping this City in 2009 - 2010 and it was also my first Honda car and I was so impressed by the engine and drive that I upgraded to Civic this year Alhamdulillah and Masha-Allah loving it even more!

Well my friend had late 2010 and he was complaining knocking issue. Honda Isl suggested Hi-Octane. He was using Shell. I asked him to try PSO I-9 first with just simple petrol and if knocking is there he should add Hi-Octane. But he is very happy now that the problem went away just by simple Petrol from PSO.

I too have experimented with Caltex, Shell etc, but after several checks found PSO petrol better on my Xli 2005 which I drove on Petrol for three years.

Usman, the worthy forum members are suggesting various solutions in good faith, perhaps assuming that this problem is specific to your car. Let me tell you what happened to me.

I live in Islamabad. I bought a new honda city in May 2011. From the very first day, I realized the powerlessness of gear 2 but taking it lightly I did not panick. Last week, I went to Murree along with my family and driving my new honda city there was a nightmare. Gear 2 was absolutely powerless, and I had to use Gear 1 all the way up. Even the Gear 1 became powerless when it came to climbing a steep road to the rest house where we had booked room. The car refused to go up and we were there in the middle of road all confused and embarrassed. I called Honda Classic in I-10 but it was wastage of time talking to them on phone. I had to park my car on roadside there, and during the rest of our 3 days stay we had to use taxi. All this spoiled our vacations, thanks to Honda City.

On Friday, 17 June (yesterday) I visited honda classic and explained to them everything, but again they were not able to offer any help or suggestion except cleaning the plugs. I told their engineer Rizwan and Khurram that I am ready to return my car to honda atlas even if it causes a loss of one or two hundred thousands. I then called honda atlas, lahore and a lady named Bushra assured me that honda engineer will soon contact me, but so far I have not received any call from them.

Today, I had to use my 2006 Cultus to go to Pir Sohawa, because my new honda city which has done just 1500 KMs cannot go to Daman-e-Koh, I bet, what to talk about Pir Sohawa. I offer my car to Honda engineers as a gift with extra cash prizes if they drive my honda city up to Daman-e-Koh in whatever gears they like. I bet one million against one rupee that the car cannot go to Daman-e-Koh.

Now coming back to the problem; the only reason for this problem is some sort of a major manufacturing fault, and absolutely nothing else. Honda Atlas is turning a deaf ear to consumers complaints considering it a problem with a few indidual units, but they are wrong. Honda Atlas is soon going to pay a big price for this. I am telling you that it is a matter of just a few more months, and nobody in Pakistan will be willing to buy Honda City. If the Honda Atlas does not fix problem in my car till end of next week or give me a new replacement that does not have this problem, I am going to go to a court of law to sue Honda for giving me a defective car while I paid full price of a new car in running condition. Let us join hands and do whatever is needed to force Honda Atlas to turn a heed to our problem. Even if the courts do not redress our problem for one reason or the other, we should spread a word through internet and media, so that we at least save those who plan to book Honda City in near future.

I went to Pir Sohawa ... on sharp and steep turns we have to apply 1st gear which is normal and one more thing ... never put your car in stationary position while climbing sharp steep turns and on roads like pir sohawa

I even experienced loss of power in Xli 2009 once when we were coming back from patriata then had to go back for 20 - 30 meters then I was able to climb up ....

@rjs i think the problem with some manufactured units may be of year 2010 or after that.SO this is manufacturing defect.

One advise to all owners of what so ever brand
when you purchase a brand new car then for the first 200 - 300 km you may avoid high speeds but after that you MUST go to motor way and put your car in a high speed experience 120-130 this is very important

You can try some other "known" City whose owner is satisfied. Test its drive to feel the differences and if there is any; take your car to the dealer and meet the customer relation manager and get the car inspected with computer and get the readings checked yourself as well. In the software "good" values are written as well. Similar to medical lab reports. Ask the operator that you want to see all the values yourself. Hope it will help

Has anyone tried this? These cars have comprehensive "on board diagnostics" and I am sure something will get reported there. All you have to do is; "politely" ask the operator to run all the tests and see the results yourself!

If possible; take another "good" City with you and run these tests on both; so that if operator says; bhai jaan iss ka result yehi hota hey....you can easily compare the results of "bad" City and "good" City. Dont forget to take pencil / paper so that you can write down the test results for comparison.

I am driving Corolla Xli since 2005. Yesterday I drove my friend's (dec 10) City (manual, no cng, on regular petrol) way beyond Pir Sohawa and I really liked its drive. There were no issues with any gear and the engine was very quite and powerful on sharp bends going uphill. No knocking at all. The cornering and road grip was amazing (on stock tires). Comfy seats. My friend is also enjoying driving his City and thanked me because I recommended him the new City.

and who told u that the lights are sealed ? they are NOT sealed!
open the trunk lid, rip the carpets behind the rear headlights and see how it looks like.u ll see a 2x2 inch opening above the bulb,it is there to let the heat of bulbs out of the light.this is where mosquitoes etc may enter the light housing.so, this is NOT a quality issue!

I believe you have some of your plugs faulty in your car.. make sure the plugs are working fine and they have the right clearances (gap)

NOT A SINGLE HONDA REPRESENTATIVE CONTACTED ME SO FAR REGARDING MY ISSUE OR SO CALLED "OUR COMMON ISSUE". THEY DAM CARE

Just to update you all , i have done some improvements in this car that i would like to share with you.

I washed out my engine with Honda Orignal and replaced engine oil with Mobil 1 5W-50 ( Really Impressed with this Oil , engine noise so smooth as well as drive )

Replaced Air Filter.

Refilled with PSO Oil

Placed couplings to give car some height to cope with small Speed Breakers.

After these replacements am feeling much better at least i can now live with this car.

I also want to make a try for improvement of pick by replacing its plugs .

Can any one suggest best plugs for this car ? I mean better than the installed ones ?

Friends , i believe in honesty without any personal inclination towards any brand and i expect from you guys as well to be honest on your part.

I personally think HONDA is not a bad brand but the people handling this brand cannot meet and able to maintain the level of services that brand like Honda Need in Pakistan. The same thing applicable to their partners ( Service Centers ).
