Honda City 2010 or 2011 Fuel Consumption

If you take your car to hiway and drive at about 60-80 kms/h itll give you around 18km/l.

I am disappointed by average as well. If i use saada petrol the acceleration and average drops down. So using hi octane i get pretty much 2 km/l extra on average. Means i get to drive 70 kms extra (assuming i fill up 35l on gas station trip), which then comes to saving cost of 6l of petrol on every fillup. So i cover cost of using hi-octane over saada petrol.

Sometimes i drive agressively which ruins the average but thats like only 15% of driving on each fillup cycle.

Is it fine to use hi-octane in city from da very first day till end. I mean all da tym using hi-octane. Not even a liter of SAADA or should it be used in a mixed ratio ? Tell da best

if the car is producing "Knocking Sound" then its best u put 70% Saada and 30% Hi Octane

please share, as per my experience highway fuel average is less as compared to city driving?

City 09 and City 10 (upto June I think) have known issues of knocking in smaller gears. To resolve it; simply visit local Atlas Honda dealers and get the ECU software updated. I think they do it for free!

sir my 2011 city is doing knocking in da 2nd gear :S

^^ You should visit the local dealer with the problem. Asking specifically to check you have latest ECU software version. They hook the car with computer and do testing through it.

If your car has done < 5000Km; dont worry; it will improve and might stop doing it. Make sure you are using good lubricant (Honda' lubricant is pathetic) and fuel from some company operated pump. A synthetic lubricant is recommended; they are bit expensive but runs longer so overall cost is same!

nice thread... fuel economy certainly enhances after the first 6-8k kms. so dont worry if ur new cars are giving 11km/ltr or so.

Stop and go affects fuels economy more....when driving in less traffic at acceptable RPM do provide better fuel economy

Recently I formally tested the fuel average of my new manual Honda city which has just done 800KMs.

• Car tank was topped upto to the nozzle with super
• Drove 513 Kms (avg 40 Kms daily to my office n back)

• RPM Kept under or upto 2 most of the times
• Soft accelaration was adopted
• Average speed 40 ~ 60 KMs in city with light traffic
• Lhr Canal road was avoided to bring out geniune in city fuel consumption
• Car is all stock except Yokohama Advan DB 195
  [/INDENT]- Car fuel again topped up to the nozzle from same pump (PSO Cavelry)
• It was refilled with 31.69 liters for 2700 rupees.

So I was impressed with the fuel consumption as a 1300 CC car on CNG cost around 3.8 or 4 Rs/KM. And this car on petrol is costing me 5.2 rupees. I am also expecting little more improvement after first oil change on 5000 Kms. One thing more the car in dash fuel average was showing me 17kms/L approx during this period which is near to the actual average.
