Alhamdolillah, have just achieved 100k on the car`s odo while coming to office in the morning……………..thats a 100k kms of pure satisfaction……
My history with city starts at the first gen launched in Pakistan…………….we received a car out of the first 50 an it was a collectors item….with the golden jubilee celebs of Paskistan going on, Honda entered with a ground breaker in the 1300 cc category……hyper 16 valve engine, metallic colours, drive quality an mileage far superior in it`s class…..my version had all the 50th anniv stickers an only some die hard city fans will remember that Honda launched some very rare twin toned anniversary models…I was lucky enough to get the very last one….bottle green on top an silver on the bottom half of the car……sadly since it was my first sedan, I got to operating on it myself…….within a year it had started falling apart……..nuts an screws were dropping like crazy everywhere the car was parked since I had opened every panel like only a billion times…….the stereo was changed from a cassette receiver to a cd unit, the headlights received EGR covers, which cost me a fortune…………..an very very rare to find…..fog lights were installed…but in 2000 after 240k kms on the odo the car met a tragic accident while going to Murree an sadly was sold off for the newer one….
In comes the second generation,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the playboy among the lot………..crystal headlamps……..looks to die for an performance as well…………we got one of the first ten to roll out of the plant……..in white………got it registered with a special number as well…………an this was the car that stole my heart…….I dragged the hell out of it, drifted it like mad an it wouldn’t stop the the grip…..the car received fog lamps after 5 months, OEM equipment……..then neon meter gauges……an lastly a pair of 16’’ rims wrapped in low pro rubber………an this car was a gem……………we put cng on it from Isloo but took it off after only a week an even on gas it touched 160km in fourth……I have a PW witnesss to this fact……the car was lovingly looked after an driven madly…….eventually it received a twin step aluminium spoiler with an hks exhaust…….an the car used to frequent the main boulevard looking for civics to eat ! An it ate quite a few……..heck one day I had it runnin stock 13’’ up front an 16’’ on the rear with the exhaust, an we gave a shocker to a Kawasaki Ninja sport bike..the poor chap couldn’t shake me no matter what he did…from Centre Point to McDonalds in Defence through traffic, on empty roads…the car was a real powerhouse……I remember the cars that ever beat it on my tips…only 3……..an bigger displacement rides…..anyway the last thing to go on the car was a neon gear knob an then the crank broke at 130k kms…….:P…….an after fixing it was just driven like an ol man
s ride n eventually sold off.
The fourth generation my current ride canyon stone silver has been with me for the last 3 years… dad used it first as his daily driver…..car has done 100k today………what can I say about this model…….reliable as wapda is in loadshedding….amongst the experiments done this were fog lights, 18’’ alloys, air intake system, which is up for grabs cuz Im going to sell the ride shortly….anyway the car has brought 5 couples together in marriage………including my marriage as well……four other cousins an friends used this as their waya wali gaddi……it
s been all over Pakistan………..never failed me……running on petrol since day one…special number plate….excellent mileage……bit short on power…….but a good family car……just receives lots an lots of care from my end…….
The last is my fifth gen city………white, special no….havent driven it too much yet, but one word………………awesomeness….mileage is supeb, power is superb…..just a couple of rounds of highway driving on it an it`s on my good books…the interior is a bit too dark for my taste….the plastics are a bit down on quality as well…..but I still stand with it to be the best of the lot yet!!! So do I get to qualify as a city nut??
