Has anybody here gotten their shocks changed for a honda city? What’s the difference between oem and one’s available on pakwheels from kyb or hitachi?

Any advice regard this? Who’s the best person for this in islamabad for a 2011 honda city?

1 Sales invoice cum advance tax receipt(verification copy+customer copy)

This average is calculated by ECU (I think) under ideal conditions. I mean ECU measure the petrol on the basis of SI units. Unfortunately we in Pakistan did not use SI units. Our units of measurement varies from petrol pump to petrol pump. Different pumps gives 7-9 points a liter instead of 10. If you fill from remote pumps on highways it can comes to 6 point a litter. Nobody is there to check their measurements. So actual average will be far less than that.

I dont have experience with after market shocks but OEM should last a long time. I guess it depends what your preferences are, how long will you keep the car, do you want better, peace of mind, budget etc etc.

Given the prices of new cars where I would now have to pay more than double to get the same damn car, decided to keep going so gonna replace them with OEM.

You can get this OEM, for the front struts.

Everything within the enclosed line is already pre-assembled and new - the different rubber parts, brackets and bearing. Makes DIY much simpler.

Cost is around rs33,000 (pair) plus another 2400 (pair) for part 13 rubber genuine inner mount. KYB would cost around 15-16k for a pair but only the shock part.

Gonna replace the lower control arm too as the ball joints are gone.

Thankyou for such an elaborate reply. I’m sorry but i still have a few questions.

1- where’d you get these and where can i get them.
2- my understanding was that only the shocks needed replacement but you’re changing the springs and almost the whole assembly?
3- are you doing these yourself in r getting them done from a mechanic.
4- any other advice you’d give regarding this?

1. I got from a shop (Bilal autos, Lahore) that import from Thailand. From what I was able to gather that 3s do not sell complete units. They will get you separate pieces but shock and spring alone was 26k for one side.

2. I honestly don't know the exact answer. Everyone here says spring never needs changing. Online it says it can get weak over time and car can hang low. My driver side is 1 inch lower. Maybe it's the spring, shock or both. Plus rubber and bearings do wear out over time. I'm at 162k so why not change the whole assembly.

Rear I will only change the shock for now.

4 I guess just make sure to ask around online or locally where you can gets parts from, to find the right shop.

Inspect what your buying. I was also buying lower control arms for both sides. The right side, was a very old piece. It was genuine. But must have been dumped somewhere in storage. Full of scratches and rusting is some places. I refused to buy it despite them telling it was fine. Price is almost same as 3s so will buy it from them.

AoA I bought honda city 1.3 prosmatic on 15 Dec 2018. So far the car did only ~5000 km. On 3rd inspection at about 3900 pm I reported to honda service centre that my car's suspension seems rattling. They have checked the car and said that every thing is fine but I wasn't satisfied. Now the car is making more noise. It seems that tie rod ends are loose. Now I need an advice from the members (on this thread) on how to convince guys at honda service centre. For a new car by honda, I was not expecting this kind of problem.

Change your dealership.
Also check your wheels for damage to rim/ steel wheel and get wheel alignment done.

Visit a different dealership. As i think a car with just 5k shouldn't do such. Kindly avoid going to local ustaads because your car will go dead i.e they will fix one thing but will disturb 10 more things.
