Well, here's my brief summary of Honda city 1.3 vtec. I'm going to give my honest review as I believe just favoring an item just because I own it is insane. Honda city is overall a good car and the best thing about it is its mileage. The worst thing is the quality. Steering silver color is disappearing, power windows button disappearing, gear knob etc. Externally there are a few spots of misalignment. Comparing it to cars that I drove.
1 aqua: no comparison. Aqua is way ahead in every aspect.
2 gli (13)&(16) : quality wise, I felt that Toyota is superior, driving wise I would prefer Honda where as comfort wise, gli is better for passengers but I found the driving posture of gli to be a bit uncomfortable (2013 model. Didn't drive the 2016 one).
3 vitz 2006 : vitz is better in everything except power.
Conclusion and my preference : I would go for a jdm anytime but if I had to choose b/w any pkdm, I would choose Toyota if I had enough budget and no security risk ( we bought city just because of security risk of corolla).. But if you like a bit sportier drive, then city is much preferred coz no matter what you say, city has much better handling and response time. That's my opinion. Secondly as far as the smoking of city and grande is considered, I guess city will take the head start 1st but will eventually fall behind (talking of 1.3 vtec). City will start 1st or take the initial lead coz of light weight body and vtec. As far as 1.3 gli is concerned, I don't think so gli will come close to city even 1.3 coz of heavy weight difference. That's my opinion. Can't say anything about yaris
