how about fitting a silencer box at the place where cat is located, cut the old box ( housing ) out and fit another similar sized box instead .... would it effect ?

thats exactly what i wrote in my last post.when u take the CAT out, u HAVE to install the sensor into the exhaust stream somewhere, so usually people get normal dholki/silencer installed in its place.

btw, i though about it and got an idea.check out this picture. please not that the middle one is how my car's CAT is.a chunk of filtering element in taken out but it runs fine on petrol, no check engine lights and on my recent visit to multan with passengers and A/c, it gave me around 16km/ltr roughly.

Not a bad idea ! I might give it a try, otherwise replacing a silencer box option is always open, should give it a try !

Btw i m getting approx 11 km/liter in city, have just check again, last time i check it was somewhere around 9km/L, may be bad quality of fuel or some other reasons, wat u say should i go for CAT or wait !
I used to get around 14 - 15 km/liter when odo was at 40k , after 55k its just like that .....

Hash brother suggested to get CAT removed before installing cng .... also planning to install cng, not sure at the moment !

Heard petrol coming down 5 rs and cng going up to 70 rs / kg in near future ! dont know how authentic is this news is but better wait for a while i think .......

Majority of Honda City's discussed on this and other threads are Manual transmission, How good an automatic variant of the car is ? what are the 'could be' reasons for Automatic transmission of honda city not that common?

There are rumors that facelift 5th gen City is coming in India by end of current year; lets see if it happens or not and what Atlas Honda does in Pakistan

• 4th Gen section needs to be corrected. The date "2005 - present" needs to be corrected. This section also needs more info...for instance details about "Vario" trim. This section is also confusing as it talks more about Steermatic that already has its own seperate section.
• Please move iDSI and Steermatic sections to top of Gen 5
• Steermatic doest has paddle shifts; it has buttons on steering I think; paddle shift is different
• Similar to iDSI and Steermatic sections under 4th gen; we should have iVTEC section under 5th gen talking about whats new in it and how it differs from simple VTEC etc
• In 2011 Atlas introduced few more stuff in City we need couple of lines on it as well

It would also be nice to have price history (if possible; atleast 5 years back) so that people buying used City can get some idea from this info

I am not criticizing; just wants info to be updated and correct. I am a fan of "City" and owned 5th gen City in 2009 - 2010

Good question and looking forward to what people has to say on this. Generally I think its got no competition; if someone wants entry level automatic sedan; City A/T is the only choice. The new GLI-AT is priced higher (and it has larger engine) and it will be interesting to see how it impacts the City A/T. Looking forward for return of something on Steermatic lines; if not CVT; atleast paddle-shifters? (H)

• I never liked "City-AT" thing in 5th gen. They should put on normal "Automatic" sticker. The AT part kills the "City" badge look!

New City will not be available in Pakistan till begining of 2013. This is 100% confirm news.

I am facing rpm drop issue on cng in my city 2000 (no rmp drop on petrol). RPM setting done several times but it again start to drop rpm after 2, 3 days. Throttle body service, plugs, tunning all done.

Any suggestion what could be the possible solution?

well, petrol went down by just 80 paisas and cng is still there.i would love to see petrol prices being dropped but honestly, my mind doesnt let me think that a permanent drop in prices of petrol will ever be seen, drop of a few rupees i mean, 8-10rs. bcuz 2-5rs drop wudnt change much.
so if u are planning to install cng, dont wait i wud say.just get it.u ll save ur CAT too bcuz it will not have to absorb the pollutants anymore (cng is cleaner) and even if petrol and cng prices are same , 1 unit of cng gives u more mileage compared to one unit of petrol (neglecting other circumstances like more maintainence on cng etc etc)

well, not exactly.here in pakistan, even if a car gets redesigned bumpers and lights, we consider it as new model.this is why i broke all of them into generations based on even small changes.
but to be accurate, there have been on 3 generations of city.1997-2003, 2003-2009 and 2009 to today. the changes in 2000 and 2006 were minor ones and should not be treated as complete model change.so , the complete new model is still atleast 2 yrs away (based on my own opinion) though, some minor changes may be introduced.

There have been some issues with the idsi CVT transmission (only on CNG) but the new city now does not use CVT tranny so there are no issues what so ever.on cng and petrol,both.
There are 2 major reasons why its not very common.first, majority of people (including me) and no a fan of auto tranny cars in the first place.
the second reason is the most of the City-buyers are the ones who are looking to get a nice family car for the minimum price, auto tranny adds a huge chunk to the price and to many, theres no advantage of it.they may pay 50k extra for navigation screen but they might not pay it for auto tranny.

so , rest assured, theres nothing wrong.its just the reluctance of buyers.

dear just go to a good CNG mechanic, and go for CNG Kit n Cylinder service, the problem will b gone InshaAllah

There are basically 2 ways of injecting CNG into the air intake stream of a car.
one of them is called venturi, other is called injector.

in injector, a hole is made into the air filter box of honda city (its strategically placed i guess) and the pipe introduces the CNG directly into the air stream in the air filter.

in venturi, there is an additional component, its a sort of ring attached to the pipe which is inserted in the injector type thing.the cng is inserted into this ring and all the air that is going towards the engine is passed through this ring.this way, it probably mixes with the air better then injector (im not sure if this is the purpose of venturi).
i ve seen venturi being used in civic but never seen in idsi.i think theres a reason why the experts dont use venturi in idsi, so i wud say there wudnt be any plus points.
and oh, one thing that i ve heard is that injector type CNG induction works well and the car runs great on petrol too.while in the venturi type, performance and mileage is a bit compromised on petrol because it blocks the intake a bit.i ll see if i can find a pic to demonstrate.

here is what venturi is.its installed in the air intake in such a way that all that air will pass through it.and theres a hole in it on a side which is the inlet for CNG.
