Today I drove my friend's New Honda City.
What an awesome car it is.
I liked the drive and the suspension.
Moreover,it was fun to drive.The steering really gives you a sporty feel.

Only one thing that I don't like was the quality of plastic.

yup... new city is a great car! i tried one today, too!

So guys, today i got my hands on a close friend's new honda city (a guy who does'nt mind me doing anything with his car :))
i checked it for two different things.

1) Fuel economy
2) Acceleration

The car had 18,000kms+ with 185 sized tires and is totally driven on petrol.at the time i tested.there were only two people in the car.
A few people complained that their cars are giving more then 11-12km/ltr and that the acceleration is pathetic (a guy from islamabad claimed that he can bet a million on the fact that it cannot drive up to peer sohawa (margalla hills)

anyways, i pushed it hard, touched 150km/h in a 1km stretch and then on a different road, 180km/h on almost 2kms long road.i couldnt make a video as i had no good quality cam but acceleration was excellent!

Then, i tried some fuel economy runs, did some super economy runs and a few kms of normal and then few kms of harsh driving!
the instantaneous average was:-

above 20km/ltr for super economy run
above 16km/ltr with normal, city driving
and 11-13km/ltr with 'padel to the metal' (even when i was doing 171km/h with 6100 RPM)

The "Real" average, which is shown in figures just below the bar, showed the following readings

upto 23.8km/ltr in super economy driving (doing 40km/h in 5th, cruising)
around 17.5km/ltr in normal driving conditions in city
almost 12km/ltr with padel down

so , do any of u think these figures are not upto the mark or surprising?

note the RPM positions,speed and fuel economy bar.also note that the accelerator is PRESSED because if if its, the spontaneous fuel economy bar shoots upto 40km/ltr (because u are gliding without engine power)

Anyone know which plugs comes preinstalled in 5th gen City (09 onwards) and should one go for change of plugs or not in this car? If yes; recommend some to reduce the knocking issues in lower gear in sudden stops scenarios...

if ur car is 2009 or 2010, get the ECU of ur car reprogrammed. note that Honda guys are reprogramming all cars prior to 2011 delivery free of cost, there were a lot of complains of knocking.

another way is to use high octane fuel, 50/50 ratio of hi octane and super petrol.after driving for a few kms on this mixed fuel, knocking shall disappear/ reduce considerably.

Ahmad, got a tehcie sawal for you today, My 07 city has just been witnessed my latest khurak...(a diy that i will surely post)an intake system, the pipe i got with it doesnt have an opening for the vacum pipe thingy. Ive placed a breather filter on the vacumm pipe or what ever it is,(the iron pipe that goes into the back half of the air box)After installation i noticed tht car does dhamals in low rpm pick up. Almost like knocking, its fine otherwise.....era ki illaj karye ustad??

Aaaj ka dosra sawal aap ki khidmet mai pesh hai, these days my pyari gari is havin trouble giving consistent mileage readings. Now i have improved on my "Thand" theory which states" for each an every car zooming past you, you do not floor your throttle" but still its ranging from 10ish to 15ish on intercity routes with thand wali machime on at all times..Oh an while youre at it, this little info might help you.....very very proudly or rather sharmindafyingly, my rides never been tuned. Engine is all kunwara, the original plugs were replaced at 82k with bosch four tips, oil, oil + air filters are replaced regularly. Meray nakis ilm kay mutabiq, the solutions I thought of were tappet adjustment an throttle body cleaning. App ki taleem kay mutabiq ki kerye?

Alhamdulillah the unit I kept had very little such issue that got resolved soon by using better lubricant. I used Helix Ultra and then I guess they updated the ECU too. Actually back then I asked Atlas dealer engineer (who is good BTW) about changing plugs etc that he refused saying that it already comes with very high end plugs and if I change them I will rather be demaging its engine.

Now seeing people suggesting to try changing plugs makes me curious what good it will make and what kind of plugs this new City comes factory fitted. Thats why I asked!

ahmedbila seems to b bzy today.
waisay how could u survive 82k kms in pk in this environment w/o any tuneups?
i max gone to 20k, the car was still perfectly going but i get it tunned throttle and tappet adjustemnts done. which end up from perfect drive to check light car and lowered the milage per cylinder and lowered the power too.

hehehehe.... dhamaal im gonna take it as rpm fluctuations well, i dont have any experience with the modifications on idsi (i ve rarely seen an idsi with modified engine) but i guess this is because now the breather pipe lacks back pressure.i think u shud get a hole drilled in the intake pipe and attach that breather to the intake, i.e. the place where it is supposed to be as stock. this shud solve the issue.

he he he... no tuning for sooo long ur car needs it badly! tappets, throttle body service, plugs, air filter etc! aap ka naaqis ilam or hamari talleeem barabar hy sarkaar

if u r looking for economy go for honda city
and if money no prob and needs extra comforts then go for honda civic
but due to hike of petrolium prices and its model is concern, i think u shud stick with city less old will provide u to save some bucks.
if civic is in awsom condition go for it.

thx for posting ur test run,,, my April 11 city is giving 10-10.5 km/l in city and around 16.5 on highway and ac is always on.. as far as the pick is it had a bit lag before but now around 5k driven the low rpm torque has improved, no knocking issue so far driven totally on normal petrol,,, its a treat highways and hills as well,, specially on highway when alot of Cow-Rollas comes behind you asking for a pass.... i let them pass and then show them what a Tin Box they have bought,,,, they just cant keep up... the only issue i have is that many ppl claim mileages close to what you posted but mine is a bit short of it even after the 5k mark... aside from overtaking rollas on highway i drive in economy mode between 1700-2700 rpm i know iam a bit above the super economy mark but i dont wana screw my crank for that,,,,,
