Honda city good average in city but very bad on long

This is the average I get too from my Honda City 1.3M.

I am facing an opposite issue, I have a city 2017 prosmatec 47000km done, its average on long with AC is 18km/ltr, 17.5km.ltr~18km/ltr, checked this average by full tank method, whereas in city, its 7.5~8km/ltr with AC, I have never closed the AC, i usually adjust the thermostat, never dropped down the windows (since 2017), city average goes down to 6~6.5, as per Honda, its the best average you can get from a prosmatec, nothing can be done, car is totally stock.

1. Fuel Filter needs to be changed (esp if you are using fuel from non-company operated pumps)
2. Get Catalytic converted checked for back pressure - or inspect the jaali if clogged , get it thoroughly cleaned with "CATACLEAN UK" only
3. Check Spark Plugs , Coils , Sensors etc.
4. Put Fuel Injector Cleaner (STP/LiquiMoly/Gumout)
5. Put high-octane fuel to clean up carbon - google "italian tuneup" and run the car at 4000-6000rpm on low 2nd or 3rd gears for 60s short bursts for a total of 10-15 minute drive time, or atleast 10 kilometers.
6. Get MTF replaced with genuine honda MTF only (1.7L) - manual suggests replace after 60k kms not 120k
7. Check tyre pressure, alignment, wheel balancing, brake service, inspect wheel bearings - bad bearings can also cause poor mileage
8. Replace all filters, fluids, brake and clutch fluid (these are cheap services, and can be done after 3 or so years) often neglected
9. Check long term and short term fuel trims , OBD data by a good technician - and then go for tuneup.

Easiest way - to visit Honda workshop and ask for comprehensive tuning for low average.
Cheapest Way - See point 5 + Fuel filter clean (replace with chinese one - around 2900rs)

I was a bit skeptical at first, but chinese parts are very close to oem - and i am a huge proponent of buying aftermarket parts to avoid dealership markups which are usually at 300% because of the top-heavy management's fat gut.. The part i got was brand new, filter media is said to be on par with most modern cars like they put in Changan / MG / DFSK

I am also using Guard Oil and Air filters, getting excellent mileage and the filters last about a year - since i drive mainly on urban and highways that are relatively cleaner - if you drive on dusty and rural areas with questionable fuel availability then you need to be more careful and go for oem part for peace of mind, for general purpose city driving - no need to overspend for 1-2% better results in my humble opinion.

came across strange but personally tested this issue. you get a lot of diffence on highways by just polish & wax . ruff paint creates big drag and cause extra fuel consumption. hope someone elso also feels same difference specially when drive on long routes

My Honda City 2015 1.3MT gives around 13.5 km/l in Lahore with AC and around 14.5 km/l with AC in Islamabad. On highway at 3000 RPM (100 km/h) I get around 17.5-18 km/l and at 3400 RPM (120 km/h) it gives around 15-16 km/l.

I have also similar kind of figures in city and GT road
But on motorway with AC at 120 speed, it is giving me around 10-12
Plugs are black when they are taken out. Full tuning done including fuel filter. Do you know what could pe problem?

Black plugs can be caused by a dirty air filter, excessive driving at low speeds, too rich of a fuel/air mixture or idling your vehicle for too long. Also get the Cat Convertor cleaned (if not already done). Hopefully there will be improvement.
