Honda city oil change

Wa Alaikum Salam.

i have heard that 5w30 is recommended for honda city so should i switch to 5w40 on next oil change or stick to 10w40 because 10w40 not creating any problem

IMO, considering your particular case, if 10w-40 is not creating any problems, then you may continue using it.

ZIC 10w-40 is fully synthetic (unlike most of the other brands, which are semi synthetic, or mineral based), so accordingly, a value to money oil IMO.

Just ensure that the oil is fully authentic.

Considering your car's case, Pros:

Good fuel efficiency, engine oil grade is recommended and most suited as per manual, etc.

Cons:

Excessive Oil consumption / reduction issues may start, combined with smoke from the exhaust.

IMO, stick with ZIC 10w-40 fully synthetic, if it's working fine.

Does 5w30 will give better average or smoothness ?

YES.

my car is not giving good average only 9 to 9.5 in city

The issue is not with ZIC 10w-40. Issues seem to lie somewhere else.

Its better to change all of them, if no previous history / record is available.

Types of fluids which may be in your car:

1. Engine oil
2. Transmission oil
3. Brakes Fluid
4. PSF (if the steering is not electronic)
5. Radiator Coolant
6. Clutch fluid may also be reqd. if in case its Manual Transmission car

i don't know for how long it has not been changed so should i flush and change with new one or stick with it ?

I would suggest to change all.

For transmission fluid and Hydraulic power steering fluid (if your car is equipped with Hydraulic power steering. If Electric / EPS, then it does not require any Hydraulic power steering fluid), only use Honda Genuine fluids.

For Brakes, Clutch, Radiator, Engine, you can use fluids from any after market, reputed brand.

Basit Bhai which type of manual transmission oil should one use for honda city other than own honda one

I think any Manual Transmission fluid may suffice, provided that fluid meets / exceeds Honda Genuine MTF criteria, and on the bottle, it is written that this fluid can be used in place of Honda Genuine MTF.

You won't believe, but in my Accord's Manual, it has been written that if Honda Genuine MTF is not available, then 10w-30 or 10w-40 engine oils with API certification for Gasoline Engines can also be used (but as temporary arrangement).

According to Xulfiqar Sb., 15w-40 is good for Manual transmissions by Honda, especially if transmission is old.

Only one more think i want to ask that today i went to honda 3s dealership and ask about geniune honda city gear oil and brake oil and plugs and they charge too much so then i went to local market there are variety of oils available like kix 75w85 and mobil 75w90 and also genine plugs available in cheap rate so are they ok for for my car or should i stick to honda geniune product?

Agreed!

Sister Honda Genuine products are best, although costly, but you need not buy them from 3S.

As far as their purchase is concerned, you can always buy from 1S dealerships (Details at https://www.honda.com.pk/index.php/dealer-network/#1570477309850-bffa3c42-c37c and https://www.honda.com.pk/index.php/contact-us/1s-dealers-spare-parts/ )

Then, there are reputed and respected shops in the markets, which sell the same, authentic and genuine products at quite reasonable rates. You need to find them out.

I am based in twin cities, so unfortunately, I regret that I cannot guide you about any such shop / market in Karachi. Let experts / members from Karachi guide you best in this regard.

If one is not an expert, then he / she needs to be very careful, as some shops might sell fake products, in the name / price of "Cheap'', or authentic products.

It all depends on you. If you can afford, then Honda Genuine is the Best, else if, aftermarket is also fair.

I have recently changed different fluids in my car, so to give you some idea, let me share some details:

1. Engine oil: Total Quartz 9000 Future Series 5w-30 (Non-Honda, and Honda Genuine product not compulsory)
2. Transmission Fluid: Honda Genuine ATF DW-1 for my car's Automatic Transmission (Honda transmissions are considered sensitive, so best to only use Honda genuine product)
3. Hydraulic Power Steering Fluid: Honda Genuine Only, as these are also sensitive
4. Brakes Fluid: Caltex DOT 4 (Non-Honda, and Honda Genuine product not compulsory)
5. Radiator Coolant: Caltex (Non-Honda, and Honda Genuine product not compulsory)

In Pakistan, what I have observed is; this Caltex Coolant is 100% concentrated (and not premixed), so accordingly, it has to be mixed with an equal volume of pure, demineralised / deionized water in 50:50 ratio, and then poured.

It is never used in 100% concentrated form.
