bought a city 2006 car 15 days back, its fan was direct, i made it to auto on saturday. gone on a long ride with the family suddenly RED heating light appears, stop the car at the corner and side reserve bottle was heating like hell, water and flame coming from it, after some times with the help of a cloth opened the radiator cap, water flows like shower. car is getting off. so i kept the excelator and a guy started filling the water, water is flowing like shower, one thing notice that fan is not working so i on the AC and let the fan run. later want to the mechanin and made the fan direct again. its working fine now.

Now im worried is that the city car is an electronic car and its system is auto then why we need to alter to direct. secondly what you people say, is the gaskit is the main cause or radiator. or should i kept the fan on direct.

First of all auto fan is recommended for any car. I recently bought the civic 00, service the radiator which is good condition, fill the radiator full with coolant and make the radiator fan auto by putting honda genuine thermostat and still with ac there is no heating problem in my car.

Take the car to honda 3s dealer for checking the thermostat and radiator inspections and other factors such like fan speed etc. If the radiator is in good condition then service the radiator and fill the radiator fully with honda long life pre-diluted coolant and let the fan to be auto which is highly recommended.

Have u checked its auto fan? radiator cap, any leak from hose pipes, head gasket condition......

both fan are direct its been an year like that
Nope didnt try a new cap but tried the original and the one which came with the radiator
Hose pipes were replaced with new ones
Not sure about the head gasket

If radiator is building severe pressure in it and reducing water repeatedly then the head gasket is blown. This will result in over heating of engine and related issues.

the radiator set me back about 5.5k in exchange took my old radiator for 1k and it was a brand new one

Thanks for the info and help. i will do the radiator cleaning on saturday and find out its condition as well. i will ask my mechanic to check the thermostat, if needed i will replace it. and i need my car on AUTO fan. i will do that.

In plaza right now
One mech is saying that your radiator is small get a bigger one
The other one said it's the head gasket we'll open it tomorrow

What do u mean by radiator is small Has the mechanic gone NUTS! Radiator is obviously the standard size of fitting....

Thats what I told him this is an OEM spec radiator but the core was a bit bigger then the original one
Now I got a new cap didnt work
Mechanic removed the T-stat we tried the car but eventually it started to heat up will get a new one tomo.
Now the only two things are left i.e the head gasket and water pump
Since the guy was short of space and choota's so will get them replaced tomo.

Water pump either works fine or leaks. If it doesn't leak, probability is that it's fine. I don't know how the gasket is being called the culprit here. You don't have any symptoms of head gasket leakage, apart from the over heating and there can be a million reasons for it.
