I didn't want to make my own thread for this so I'm just gonna post my issue here.
So, my Civic 09 Oriel Prosmatic has been giving me an issue for the past 4-5 days.
It will run fine for however long and then suddenly the check engine light turns on in the middle of driving, the engine stops putting out power, and the car quickly slows down to about 15-20kmp/h and RPMs drop to ~1500 I'd say. Once this happens it doesn't matter how hard I step on the accelerator the car refuses to pick up power. If I let of the accelerator completely the car drops down to roughly about 600RPM.
The RPM may go upto 3000-4000 if the road is completely straight or has an incline downwards. If the road is inclined upwards the car stuck at about 2000RPM. Putting it into D1, D2, D3 or just D changes pretty much nothing. My father who has encountered this a couple of times has stated that the car manages to pick up power instantly once he turns off the headlights but I didn't find this to be the case as I have only encountered this once.
Once I manage to get home and park the car I tried to see if it still did the same in Park (P). I restart the car and while in Gear P I step on the accelerator and the RPM's very slowly and hesitantly go up to ~4500 and then they just stop there like it's the redline for the engine (You don't hear the "knocking" noise from the engine when it reaches the end of a gear).
After a while the issue goes away if we just leave the car parked. Sometimes the check engine light goes away shortly after sometimes it stays, I can't pinpoint a pattern here. However, one thing that has stayed consistent is that whenever I turn on the car after a while the vibrations from the engine is gone and the engine idles at 1200 RPM initially and if I leave the car on for ~3 minutes the RPMs slowly come back down to 800 and stay there. Eventually the check engine light goes away as well and the car functions like normal again, no vibrations, and the engine gives out power to the wheels with RPMs going up to 6000 just fine.
Since it is Eid I couldn't exactly get it checked out and I also want to try to pinpoint the issue myself so I don't just hand it to a mechanic to get fixed only for the issue to return a few days laters.
After very little research and keywords thrown at google It could possibly be related to the ECU of the car. Perhaps some failsafe mode after it detected something has gone wrong? Perhaps a sensor or something. Perhaps it has something to do with the Throttle Body or Fuel Filter/Pump? Lastly, if anyone knows what the exact issue could be, how much will it cost?
Much appreciation.
