Honda Civic 8th Generation (Reborn) - Common problems

i just bought a civic 2008 with 88k on mileage. its my first car and i have no experience of car maintenance before. My car skids when i apply break with high pressure, or when i press emergency break. The right tyre skids first and seems like only right tyre is skidding but i am not sure. secondly their is no ABS error code or ABS light on the meter.

i don't know about the break pads whether they need replacement or not. currently the break starts effecting after pressing break paddle after 1.5 inches.

Below are my assumption:

i have found the car was flooded from the right side after recent Karachi rains. because the right shocker was not opening when i went to remove the spacers. when i opened the right door for some electric work i found a little bit of water inside it. the right side mirror bearing were also rusted.

some guys me have told to replace the ABS unit which is very costly. what do you experts think. does any body faced the similar issue?

Check brake pads and rotors (discs)They might be worn out.I also had same issue.If issue still persists then get the car scanned for abs error.

Does abs error scanning is something else? or is it only one kind of scanning which tells every error code? because i have scanned it already, i only found oxygen sensor error which was because in my catalytic converter their is no "JALI"

No bro it's same scan.if there was no abs error then abs is fine.most of 8 th generation,s civic,s I see on road gives"phatta''sound because of absence of jali.Install jali to restore sound.Is ur car auto or manual

yes that sound is not giving the actual driving pleasure of reborn. Secondly what do you suggest to restore cat? till now i know about kabuli cat which will cost me approx 30k and after that MAY BE i will be needing to change oxygen sensor for 6k i think. as i have already purchased this vehicle above the its actual worth that is why i am trying to find some jugar for the cat noise problem.

My car is an Auto, till now i have found it is giving me 7 - 8 km/litre average within city and have also used high revs very rarely.

Fuel average is ok.My cousin used to have this car and he was using with lightfoot and same average he was getting.I have heard that people placed normal jaali.the function of catalytic converter will be finished but sound will be restored.Tell it to a mechanic he will know.

Sorry for being off topic but i want to mention that 88k km mileage for a 2011 model seems fishy. I have seen trend only in karachi that irrespective of the model, cars for sale have always mileage less then a lac km. Reversing meter seems to be favourite in karachi. As 88k km driven car is like a new car if driven carefully. I have 340k km driven 2006 civic Vti Pros and 318k km driven 2005 city. Both never faced issues like this.

I get what you mean. However the cars in pretty good Nick with the engine being pretty soundless and all the engine bay components being pretty intact ....
I had a civic 2005 at 195k but never faced such a thing.

keep using the car if there is no issue with the gear shifting/acceleration. once transmission gives up completely only than change it (if required).

Regarding skidding, just get your brakes serviced. sometimes some brake calipers gets stuck and need to be pushed back in the place. besides when you are getting brakes services change the disc pads if needed. This will improve your milage as well if there is any issue/stuck brake caliper.

there is no issue with ABS if there is no ABS error light.

Incase there is no cat converter in the car you can just drive the car with light foot to get better milage.

Firstly the drain and fill method takes around 3 litre of atf. How come you used 4L. Secondly the noise you are telling seems that maybe transmission fluid was overdue in this car no one changed it.

The fun part is, the card in the car stated ATF replaced 6months back. However for my self assurance I replaced it again.
Also, when I drained it I got around 4.5L out of it...and I filled in 4L . I do admit I did push out some of the oil by starting and shifting gears bit not much.
Posting a picture of my dipstick after running the car for a good hour. Please advise

borther i just went to a local mechanic, Their is a separate scanning for ABS. He did scanned i got the error for left rare tyre.

i just went to a local mechanic, He scanned for abs error and i got a rare left wheel abs sensor error.
and again i checked the abs by pressing hardly on a new road, again i have found only right tyre skidding.

So, The mechanic first told me why their is no ABS Light on the ODO Meter? well as far as i know their isn't any light for ABS on Reborn if we turn on the ignition. correct me if i am wrong.

As per the mechanic logic the ABS is failing because their is an error at the left rare tyre, He said you have to change the rare break pads, the front ones are OKAY .and we will see further what other issue are their and we will also service the break disks because their are lines on it. 5k minimum He asked for this.

i am actually not sure whether he will fix it or not.

Q1). Does reborn rare wheels also stops at breaking? until now i thought only front wheel are responsible for stoping the car.
Q2) If their is an issue on the left rare tyre then the left rare tyre should skid. how it is that only right front tyre is skidding? or as the mechanic tell that it was because abs failed when it receives any error from any tyre.
Q3) Does reborn have ABS light indicator when we switch ignition?

seems way over filled. normal drain and refill method takes around 2.8 Litres of ATF.

Whinning sound can be due to over filling of ATF. when cold it should not be above crisscross lines.

Brother get the car ECU reset done by removing battery -ve terminal for 5 minutes and than re connecting it.

than check for errors again on a scanner.

change your rear disc pads, front tyres are skidding since rear tyres are not stopping as required due to worn rear disc pads.

if the rear abs error comes again than the sensor is faulty and you need to change it. however rear brake disc abs sensor is embedded in rear wheel hub so it might require complete hub change. but will go to that once you have reset the ecu and changed rear disc pads and checked for errors again.

I got it reduced. So I had to reduce around 0.8L of oil to get to the H mark on dipstick.
The noise is still there though not as loud now.

The whining noise is something you will have to live with. Dont fiddle with the transmission if its not giving problem.

There is an ABS light in the dash.
