To be honest its one of the bad Civic models I have tolerated and driven for 3.5 years. I don't mean to say its a bad car. Its a good car but it isn't a true Civic. An extremely early model change in just 3.5 years is a proof of the failure of this model worldwide.
In the negative: it doesn't grip or handle as good as the 8th Gen. Its a bit boring and dull to drive than 8th Gen. Its not as agile and isn't as stable. Wind noise and road noise is annoying and not what a Honda is supposed to be. It has a vague steering feel.
On the plus side: it is comfortable, has a good interior, it is fuel efficient compared to 8th Gen, it is better on rough surfaces and has much better clearance compared to 8th Gen.
As a summary if I have to choose between the 8th or 9th after all the pros and cons. I wouldn't think twice to reject a 9th Gen and get an 8th any given day.
