Honda Civic accelaration and pick problem

My Civic 2005 Vti Prosmatec which is just 16.5k kms run is posing problems to me. I think it doesn't accelerate according to my accelerator pedal push. I consulted a mechanic who told me to adjust its tappet since they need adjustment after 10k kms but I didn't get them adjusted until I get an expert advice. Moreover, I got it checked from Honda City Sales who advised me to test the car using their HIM (Honda Interface Module) but they didn't find any problem from this test. Further, I am running it on LandiRenzo CNG kit but I don't think there is any problem with CNG setting because I feel this lack of acceleration on Petrol too.

I felt this deeply when I visited Murree and nearby areas and my car was not picking acceleration while Suzukis were speeding around. I have also inferred that automatic transmission is not advisable for hilly areas since my car didn't shift gears back even when it should have done it. I had to put the rpm down to zero then it shifted from 2nd to 1st gear.

I need your expert advise on this issue. Should I get engine's tappet adjusted? Does Honda have some electronic tuning and tappet adjustment tools for engines? What can be the other causes for this problem and possible workarounds?

the abv line suggest the problem is with ur auto transmisson, ive driven prosmatic, it tends to stay at larger gears, but as soon as u press the pedel, it shifts down, even at high rpms

Only 16.5k kms run car has auto transmission problem. I can't believe it. Auto Transmission works really well in the plains but I faced this problem only in hilly areas.

Please suggest some other solution. However, HIM test for Honda has shown Auto Transmission working OK.

I think it's a prosmatic trade mark. My car also does the same. Does not shift down when it should. There seems to be a lag.

I should have gone for a manual transmission but nothing can be done now. Anyways, further suggestions are welcome. I am particularly interested in Tappet Adjustment Philosophy. Anyone!

rpm will never go below idle setting for shiftdown,
auto does hill just fine. need to understand its pshycy

Try Tappet adjustment won't hurt anything. Do let us know the output

Does some Honda service center in Lahore have automatic tappet adjustment tools? Or I would require a Khradia as I saw a note in another thread?

By the way, Honda City Sales say that they adjust the tappet of the cars at 10~15k kms run. Does anybody have an experience before?

well i have se saloon auto i didnot face any problem in hilly areas its on petrol..................if u had this probelm did u try driving in D3 or L2 positions ....... after getting the car on cng the performance of car on petrol is not the same... becase they close some air inlets i guess....... try getting help from cng expert....

Yes I drove the car in D3. I think it's not related to CNG. Further suggestions!

the prosmatec does not shift gears backwards specially from 2nd to 1st on CNG properly. the advancer of automatic cars is a little different, get that checked. r u also facing the same problem on petrol.

i also have a vti prosmatec on petrol. i have visited murree with no problem. the transmition shift backwards when u floor the accelerator.

i would suggest that u contact logas if u r facing the problem on CNG ony, otherwise go to honda and tell them that the problem is with petrol, the transmition is not shifting properly, ur car is still under warranty, they would do something about it.

also get ur throttle serviced, this improves acceleration and the transmition shifts

My car is not under warranty. It's old Civic Vti model 2005. Anyways, I will visit Honda. I didn't actually floor the accelerator for shifting the gears backwards while ascending as I thought it would affect the engine badly.

Can you recommend any CNG expert in Lahore?

Does every Civic require tappet adjustment after running 10~15k kms? This is what Honda and my mechanic told me that I have to adjust the tappets.

tappets r usually done by honda on 20,000 kms.

i dont know abt honda recommended tappet settings but the tappet setting is not a big deal. and works well after being properly adjusted. i dont know abt civic but in mehrans u never get tappets adjusted by the showrooms.

go to any authorized honda dealership and get it done

like my brothers have said that tappet adjustment is not a big deal,there is a specific clearance between valves and their operating arms.each car has specific clearance and it should be there for the optimum performance.But at the milage of your car it is very unlikely that tappet needs adjustments....just to rule out this possibility get the clearance checked by some honda dealers....

MY car has never been on CNG and even then I experience the lag. Although the downshifing problem does not arise all the time but it happens every now and then especially on plains. I've never experienced the downshifting problem on hilly areas.
