Gari ny short pay 8 or long pay 10 ki average di hy. Tank full krwaya tha or mostly in city chalaya to almost 400 KM he chala tha. Is ki waja say main kafi preshan hu. Mujhy laga tha k or ni to 12-13 ki average to day gi he but 8 wali average say bht disappointed hon. Is liye experienced hazraat say mashwara darkaar hy kia krna chahiye. Kia iski average hoti he itni hai ya achi tunning say thik ho jaygi ya phir isko sale kr k mujhy koi or gari consider krni chahiye? the avg of auto one is 9 with ac in city
manual should do around 10 in local
these older cars wr used on cng
and now most of them are on kabli engine assemblies

It should atleast give you 10km/l in city driving and around +-13 on motorways when driven on light foot. If you floor the pedal all the time, then the average will be less than these figures.

Get it checked from some sensible meachanic, the condition of spark plugs, correct engine oil and clear air filter do affect the mileage and if engine health is weak, it will also disturb the fuel consumption.

I also have an Exi that we have kept since 2006.
The Exi comes stock with a 42 L tank. If you were able to get 400 km in city driving then thats the best you will get from it. If you do the maths then your city average will come out to be over 10.5 actually (considering the reserve light turns on when there is around 5 litres left)
On long route the average is not that good if you drive it at 120. Because the rpm is going to stay at around 4 or slightly under and you will get at best 12 km/L at this speed. If you bring it down to 100 then it will become around 14. If you still want better fuel economy then you will have to drive slower.

the only way you can increase the fuel average is by soft foot driving at some constant speed and not at all flooring the accelerator pedal and hard braking. mechanics will promise you for results of 14-15kmpl if you take their 'tuning' services and in the end you will suffer only by spending fortune with no results - so keep 10kmpl as a good or normal average for this car of this age - and i believe you are already taking this by running 400km in a tank with reserve fuel inside.

My VTi Manual gives me around 10 in city with normal to heavy foot driving on High Octane, it gave me once around 19Km/L on long running on high octane but I mostly drove it at 80~100km/h and RPM was in btw 2500~3000, at times I even went 120~130 but most of the driving was done around 100km/h
