Honda fit 2014 ctba error

I am getting ctba system failure error on my honda fit 2014. This is the 3rd time that i have got this error previously i had taken the car to the mechanic who used the scanner to check for errors and found VSA,electronic power steering(EPS) error and i have attached the screen shot of these error and also the ctba error on the intrument cluster. Could any one who has got the same error or someone who has some knowledge about this tell me what could be the problem. Is there something wrong with the car's braking system,vsa or something else and also how would i find out what is the fault as most of the mechanics in karachi dont know anything and they just reset the error.

Your starter battery might be failing, try changing the battery. Beacause after getting ctba error my battery was dead not immediately but after a while. So i changed the battery and haven't received any errors so far.

I had the same issue and at first, the CTBA error would randomly show up and disappear when the car was switched off and then back on. Then it became permanently on and when I got it scanned, there were at least 10-15 different error codes.

Turns out, a speed sensor / ABS sensor wire lock was loose on the rear right side. Clipped it back on, erased the codes and everything is now back to normal.

You might want to check the wires for any breaks, loose clips, loose plugs etc. first, before deciding to replace anything. Might just save you some hard earned money.

Hi brother. I’m from Sri Lanka. I recently bought a FIT 2013 S grade. Not a an expert in car stuff though. After a few days of buying I faced the same problem. Can you please tell me where to find all the wire locks you mentioned. It would be a great help.

Also sometimes I get transmission inspection, hill start inspection, brake inspection together with the above CTBA warning all at once. I took my car to a reputed auto care company. They said it’s a fault with Honda’s dual clutch system which is common in vehicles like FIT GP5, Vezel, Grace. The cost to fix this is about LKR 185000 (PKR 160000). I’d be grateful if someone could show me a way to fix this simply.

Your issue looks to be with the battery under the bonnet. If your car runs fine without any hesitation or hard jerks when shifting gears (slight jerks can be felt, no worries there), then there is no issue with the gearbox - so please don't pay anyone to fix anything.

For the warning lights, just disconnect the battery under the bonnet for a minute or two, then reconnect it so that your ECU resets and the signs will go away. You may need to repeat this step one or two times. If they come back on, then your battery under the bonnet is most likely toast. However, to be on the safe side, get the battery checked from a reputable battery technician and if the battery is toast (which it most likely is) then replace it with a new one.

Regarding the ABS sensor wires, just look behind the wheel to find out where your ABS sensor and its wire is. Then follow that wire and check if it is loose or broken anywhere.

Last, if you recently bought the car, it might be a good idea to replace the fluids. For gear oil, use Honda DW1 fluid and for clutch fluid, use a DOT4 brake fluid from a reputed brand like Liqui Moly. This is to be done once your warning lights issue is fixed.

When I drive normally there is no jerking. But once the CTBA error shows up I can feel the engine revving a lot. When I slow down I can feel the gears shifting. When I speed up the engine revs a lot before shifting gears and once it shifts I can feel a huge jerk as if there is a mismatch in gears. But once I restart my car everything is clear and the car runs normal again.

But today a few more errors showed up. I’ve attached the pictures for reference. I stopped the car to restart. But I couldn’t select drive or turn my steering after starting again.

Also I forgot to mention when the CTBA error shows up, the gear indicator in the dashboard starts flashing.

Looks like your battery under the bonnet is weak or not charging properly, try replacing that first after confirming that it is actually faulty.

If that doesn't fix it, then the gearbox may actually be the issue. However, first check the wiring connections from the gearbox all the way to its control unit. Sometimes the issue is simply a loose connection or dirt/grease that doesn't allow electricity signals to flow properly. The symptoms you are describing point to an electrical issue rather than a mechanical one, so hopefully you won't need a replacement gearbox.

I took my car to the Honda company itself. They did a scan and said the problem is with the spark plugs. Apparently they need to be changed after 80000km. My car has done 85000km. I got them replaced and the car is running smooth like butter. Been driving for 4 days now and haven’t encountered any problem so far. Thank you brother Shiraz, I managed to fix the problem at a very low cost.

(HONDA GRACE 2017, Hybrid) Dear Rugal, i have replaced with a Yuasa battery and still shows below indications. The car drives really slow in a mountain area, engine noise , but this is intermittent. Is this mean dual clutch is bad ?

That doesn't sound like a gearbox issue. You need to get this checked out by a mechanic with a scanner. These lights are for CTBA and ABS unit. Engine also seems to be under intermittent load, maybe bad spark plugs or coils. Either way, get it checked from a good mechanic - if you are in Karachi I can recommend a couple of workshops.
