^^ If you are blowing out the exhaust gasket then check the spring loaded bolts, That is actually a flexible mount to take up movement and heat expansion.
For ridding hollow sound - install thicker walled piping and a good resonator

first you change your engine oil CL and then accelerate if no sound then its engine problem, if sound again its mean problem is outside, remember one thing not run your car with cl engine oil
i also own a cultus vxr 2007,, u should go for good quality belts nd a good silencer,, i did so,, now engine sound is not only reduced but became oooosssmmm
m driving same model cultus from last 5 years... never experience such Sound .. car is still very smooth
