How Complicate to Choose Engine Oil from this Manual

what a authentic surgery hats off, sir do you really think the oil dealers and zic own people know better than what manufacturer has printed in case of toyota for e.g.? and if thats really the most recommended viscosity then why are there so many few brands selling 5W-20 here? compared to the abundance of 5W-40 why haven't shell,total,pso,caltex,toyota indus, honda atlas not introduced 0W-20 if its the most recommended viscosity here???. zic themselves are nobody to suggest any authentic information. and if you conduct another survey and ask the local mechanics they will tell you the most recommended oil is 20W-50 which is again wrong. so if you want to base your choice purely on surveys, then i would use 5W-40 or 5W-30 bare minimum as that what the top end oil of 90% of the oil companies on sale here as well as 5W-30 being available at original dealerships, 0W-20 figures no where in this equation.

I am just increasing my knowledge. I got this chart from a fellow pakwheeler for my 7th gen civic. It even says that 0w20 can be used and there is no harm or condition mentioned. I am fully convinced that 5w40 would be the best choice. But I want to know the downsides of using a 5w20.

Btw I am using a premium 10w30 oil with no intent of shifting to 5w oils. I have a high mileage 135000 km driven engine

honda engines are not stressed -they are very gentle on their oil. All things equal the 40 hot viscosity will make the engine use a bit "extra" fuel compared to the 20 hot.

Please note that for that engine honda specify an SG or SJ oil - really oldschool lube.

I have been working with construction machinery and generators in Pakistan and in Dubai. I had a company maintained diesel engine Land Cruiser which I drove for 460,000 kms without an engine overhaul. I used Caltex Delo Gold SAE15W-40, CH-4 Class for 15 years and Komatsu Engine Oil SAE15W-40, CH-4 Class for 3 years.

When I was working with Caterpillar 3512 gensets 1200 KVA, with 12 cylinder engine, then to we would recommend Caltex Delo Gold SAE15W-40, CG-4 Class.

Except for places where the ambient temperature goes below to -15 C, using SAE15W-40, CI-4 Class can be safely be used in 95% areas of Pakistan.

my 1996 civic manual says the same... i used api sg 20w50 caltex last time, the red one in the black bottle... felt the car a bit heavy...

oil change is now due after 3500km, what oil should i pour in this time? delo or rimula?

Do u mean Mobil 0w40 is a3b4 and not c3 but it should still be full saps with min tbn of 10 to meet a3b4 and what r 4 kittens

It has a tbn of 10 for sure thats why its specced for benz 229.3 and also bmwll01

For 10 tbn wouldn't there be good zddp and isn't a3b4 good for cats only not good for dpfs for which there r c3

Speaking of manufacturer approvals why do u think she'll doesn't specify it's approvals for helix 5w40 on bottle yet the data sheets says so they just put API and acea on bottle

I have been using ZIC X9 5W-40 5k to 6k interval from start in 2016 Gli bought zero meter curently ODO is 141k
Which oil u suggest
