I recently had an outer CV joint boot ruptured in cuore. replaced it with a so called japani "SUKI" boot. Cost for boot 350, and HDK CV Joint grease tube Rs 280 (Bought this grease specially after reading Xulfiqar bro's comments ). Mechanic charged Rs 200 for taking out axle shaft and "kharadia" took 100 for mounting new boot. ( Hope I was not ripped off)

the mechanic and kharadia must be buddies, because if the mechanic took out the axle, its only 15 minutes work on a vice to remove the boot, wash and install a new one.

but I believe the charges are perfectly alright. btw how much grease was in the tube?

He did not wash the existing grease on the cv jiont :-#, it looked shiny black :)...the boot was ruptured a few days ago ( thought I was lucky enough to catch sight of it) he just poured almost 60% of the grease tube on the cage and repacked with new boot. The remaining grease was poured in inner cv joint of other side axle shaft because its clip was loose and leaking some black grease too.

I did not read the quntity on the tube, bought it at the spot, but i think it was almost the size of medium colgate toothpaste.
