very true and are still made for the corporate sector my brother was given a think pad very low in specs than mine but that thing was really fast and had SSD solid state hard drive in which has a capability that they the data cant be lost even i burnt or wet or shocked ect.

I am using Mac book from past I guess one year. This is the best quality you can ever have. Loved Toshiba before that. Sony is as good as toshiba but Sony gives you a better feeling. Dell is the machine that I have got the worst experience with. I kept hp twice. Used it a lot but these machines never gave me any trouble. One of them sold to my cousin and he used it for 2 more years before it started giving any problem. Most of these online reviews are biased. Hp is manufacturing variety of models. I never heard any 1 cursing Pavillion. Pressario may give an issue but its a very low end model. laptops are never long lasting as compared to desktop. Always hated Acer. Never kept any. I have heard good reviews about Gateway.

Dont buy accer mini. Get Dell mini it comes with 10.1 inch screen and there is not much price difference.

BTW 10.1 is too small for normal use.

I purchased a lot of laptops for my company around 100..

There are only 3 brands I would buy.

1 - IBM (Lenovo)

2 - Dell

3 - Sony

I still got old Dell D505, D610, D600 and IBM T42, T43 working though we are no longer using them but still they work.

Only IBM Model that gave me problem was T60 that thing have one of the worst cooling fan.

I agree,,,,my personal experience with HP has been very bad. I bought HP DV series for 78K in Dec 2006 and after 2 years,,,the laptop is almost gone,,,,,,,

well i didnt have any issues with the hardware but the casing broke with the hinges and the video strip connector died without mishandling,,,,,,took 25k to get it repaired and stil i hate it. The keypad is also broken,,,,buttons have come out of their slots,,,

on the other hand i am using Sony for 1.5 years now and its as solid as one laptop can be with quite good quantity of misuse.

Your all problems state damaging involved. I never knew that HP laptops break themselves, what a fragile laptop u had :S Well to be precise, everything u mentioned is because of ur mishandling, not because of quality. Since ur using Sony for 1.5 years now, let it complete 2 years and im sure, ull complain about its quality as well cuz it will broken from here n there

Some times I regret buying a dell. I should have bought a Think pad in the first place.

secondly if they were so fragile in computers how come all call centers have dell do remember call centers run computers almost 24/7. i also had all dell setup in my call centers and these machines are strong like hell as far as i know

I've been through with Thinkpad, vaio, toshiba, gateway and dell.
And that's the order I rate in reliability and performance.

dell's desk tops are best though. I have one and I'm very pleased with them.

DELL all the way..
currently usin VAIO fgn -(forgot:P)
n yeah....HP entertainment pavilion DV 6000 for past one and a half year ..still going strong
but DELL is the best thing u can have..
VAIO more than sucks....literally ...for all the vaio owners,please check other laptops with same specs as ur VAIO n tell about it

I agree Hp's have problems but not all of them
i had hp compaq nx7400 it died after 1.5 years motherboard problem then
dv6000 which had display problem claimed warranty then
dv5 no problem in 1 year
now using dell studio 17 and till now its going good
also used sony vaio and never had any problem with it but they are expensive and u can get same spec'd laptop from hp or dell much cheaper

um planin to buy one...once saw dell some model at my friends house..i called her but she couldnt locate the model numbr
its like...the bottom side...the place exactly under screen hinges is like half inch goin down than the rest of the laptops underside...dun know what series are they

Used to live in pittsburgh for a very long time. U a steelers fan? u in pak?

I've had Dell & Thinkpad in the past and had a great experience. Recent experience with HP & Acer have been far less satisfactory. I was suprised to see Sony high up on the list because few ppl i know with sony had massive issues with harddrive crashing. My nephew just had the harddrive replaced over the summer and the laptop was hardly a yr old.

I own a compaq laptop and it sure sucks...There's dirt and scratches all over it (i've only been using it for a year now, and it is on only 18-20 hours a day, rest it is in sleep) and it has crap build quality a piece broke off the edge after i accidentally dropped it...
