I read this reply on my phone and assumed it was posed by "Bang" - the guy above your post - who could have felt himself left out in the discussion and jumped in as a complete moron who has no bloody clue whatsoever of whats being discussed, but I was amazed it wasn't him.
must stop any further conversation on this topic
Before anything else, we must understand that this^^ kind of behavior is generally a result of feeling shameless and trying to drag one's self out of a discussion in a way that sounds very intelligent and save one's self from a lot more humiliation that one can foresee.
who can obviously extract fuel economy that eludes even the stupid engineers who designed and built the machine
Since I answered this same question twice to you, and I remember telling you that you must have read that part, because you are supposed to be moderating all the posts/videos here. Sadly, you turn out to be the one who apparently reads the least. And even though something is answered over and over, dozens of times, you appear to be the one deprived of all the wisdom being shared here and end up making a obnoxious statements that would leave everyone smiling, if not laughing.
Like I said, if you saw Wayne Gerdes's videos, you would have realized that the average he gets is twice of what Honda promises. 21.5 Kilometers per liter in 2.4L Accord.
This is on the record. It was broad casted on CNN. There is no bloody reason not to believe that. Its not impossible.
If a 2.4L car can get 21 KPL, then you have to wonder whats too confounding about a 1.3L car getting 26?
Its a matter of having some brain cells that work. Really. Its not that difficult as much as we end up assuming.
You have no reason, whatsoever, to believe that no engineer on Honda can never do this only because they don't promise this average. The reason is that the average 'promised' by a company is based on how most people would drive a car. Its not based on exceptions. Its based on averages. They would not expect everyone to hypermile because most people, as you suggested, would find it bloody impossible to believe.
