Pakwheels.com confirmed launch of 1.6 engine. Does anyone has inside info? Please share.

Hyundai will be the biggest looser if they launch it at an equivalent price to Corolla or Civic.

Its an inferior brand and must be priced accordingly. and its the same strategy that they have accross the globe, both elantra and cerato cost a bit less than corolla and civic.

100% agreed....Tuscon was a different story as Crossovers were limited in Pakistan...

They need to launch in 1.6 variant first...

They would not be able to compete with 2.0L engine....would only compete with Corolla Grande and Civic Oriel if priced 4/5 lacs lesser than them with 2.0L engine....

They should have tapped the 3.0 to 3.4 Mil PKR market.....which is right now not there in Pakistan....

3.7 to 4.1 Mil Current Winners are Altis 1.8 Grande and Honda Civic Oriel

1.6 was the best category for sure.....& PRICING SHOULD BE BETWEEN 3.2 to 3.5 Mil.....only way Hyundai could benefit is with immediate delivery unlike Corolla whose delivery have gone to October/November 2021

Unconfirmed news and take it as rumour.

Elantra pricing will be near 4 Million and even cross it and touch 4.3 for fully loaded. Again maybe a false news.

Seems like every auto manf is now sure that we Pakistanis don't know cars. I mean howTF can one place an Elantra over a t-civic or top of line rolla?
After the world's most expensive alsvin , rumors of saga being close to 2.4 and now an Elantra pricier than rolla.
As the captain famously said

Some random thoughts:

1. Knowing Mansha and Nishat strategy, pretty sure the top variant would be around 40 lacs.
2. They are operating at Apple/Tesla level. The strategy is to forget about the product value, just keep the prices higher than competitors that will mean it's a 'premium' sought after product. Premium is not based on product quality or features or functionalities, just keep the prices high and khallaas.
3. Also keep the production and deliveries at minimum level. That will again signal to market that the 'premium' Hyundai cars are so much in demand, they are available after 9 months wait (just like a newborn baby) and if you want one immediately, you have to pay high On money. Does not matter if the demand is actually low compared to competitors, just keep the supply even lower and economics 101 will ensure that the price remains high.
4. Doesn't matter if the same car is internationally being sold at similar price level to KIA and below Toyota/Honda. Pakistan's market is different and people here are happy to pay higher money for 'premium' stuff. For definition of premium, please read 2nd and 3rd points above again.
5. You can't fight the big 3. Rather than posing a challenge to established players, just join them and become big 4. Unlike KIA or Chinese players, forget about sales volumes, the goal is that the market perceives the Hyundai brand just like they perceive Toyota and Honda. Then you can also skim the market through gradual but consistent deterioration in product quality over the years.

I underestimated Nishat. They are more clever / greedier than I thought as the price for top variant is currently rumored at 42-43 lacs.

Also, I don't think it will be a total flop at this price. We forget that we are a highly deprived market and the novelty factor alone would entice many buyers to buy this car instead of the 'common' Civics and Grandes around. Nishat group is very clever and would exploit this niche. Opportunistic investors ready to book any newly launched vehicle with 4 tyres and Elantra's good looks will certainly contribute to make this high price strategy work. Remember Nishat is not going for volumes the way KIA is penetrating the market. Their focus at the moment is brand positioning as a top tier brand.

In a few years we would only be able to buy a three wheeler Rickshaw for 4.2 Mil PKR....

No pay increase and prices are sky rocketing......

Top of the line variant of E LAANAT TRA was 26000 AUD in Australia in 2016...

convert that to PKR for 2016 variant than that comes out tro be 3.165 Mil PKR.....

If you remember for the last 2 Generations Toyota always launches the new shape in Altis variant first. Then they launch the Gli Xli after 6.months.
This is to ensire that the enthusiasts and shauqeen hazrat who want a new model immediately nuy the most expensove version. Once the lower variant is launched everyone isnstart byuing that.
Similarly KIA also launched Alpha one year after launching the AWD and FWD versions.
So it makes perfect sense for Hyundai to launch the most expensive 2.0 variant first.

Was actually looking forward for Elantra but corolla 12 gen news thats new, can we expect the new model current year or these are again just "rumors"

I can tell you that Indus is waiting on Elantra launch. I am sure later this year, we will have a concrete evidence about the 12th generation Corolla. There is also a rumor of Corolla Cross as CKD although the planned CBU for Corolla Cross launch have been delayed because at 8 million price tag, its a non sense.

Hybrid made/assembled locally? I am not so sure, because very few facilities around the world make Toyota hybrids. Or CKD will not be hybrid.

I can tell you that Indus is waiting on Elantra launch. I am sure later this year, we will have a concrete evidence about the 12th generation Corolla.

Either Elantra or new Civic will make Toyota introduce 12th generation Corolla.

The waiting time on current corolla is around August/September so how they can launch new model in this case?

Corolla Cross is ALSO available with 1.8L NA engine as in current generation Corolla, means a non Hybrid variant.

Also Corolla Cross is on TNGA which is also basis of 12th generation Corolla. Infact Corolla Cross is exactly same under skin as 12th gen Corolla so, Indus can develop two models , if they want to.

Civic cant come e before mid 2022 in Pakistan. It will be introduced first in US officially by early summer. It will go for sale in US in fall of 2021.

ASEAN will have it in early to mid 2022. Pakistan will obviously will have it later.
