gone is one good reason for booking this car. this seems like a cheap chinese unbranded unit. what a shame over a petty amount saved. despite price increase where they could have offered something better. seems like all new cars are turning out to be a disappointment. i dont think its worth to sell grande or civic for elantra anymore

Look around, in the facebook group some users are disappointed that they got the old unit and Hyundai has changed to new infotainment units now, simply exchange with those people lol. The biggest drawback with this unit for me is the lack of physical buttons, it has ruined the entire aesthetic of the dash and makes it look like any regular rolla or Civic now with those aftermarket touch buttons on the side. And obviously Apple car play won't be there either, and bluetooth calling quality might be degraded. Can only tell once someone is able to properly review this.

I spoke with a lady in Hyundai Nishat earlier today. She was the head of the customer services division I think. She noted down my complaint, understood it and somewhat agreed as well. Said she'd get back to me. Suggested that I, in parallel, continue my efforts with the dealership as well. So I did. Called up the owner of the dealership and had a chat with him. He said that this is a localisation change and it will be done to other cars as well e.g. the massive jutting out screen in the Tucson. And it was approved by Hyundai Motor company in SK. However he said, take a look at it first and if you don't like it, there are enough customers out there who'd prefer the new screen and we can switch the screens without voiding the warranty (I hope). Additionally, he said that there a host of features in the new avn panel and as per his own assessment it doesn't look that bad, but he himself was against the change.

So let's see. Allah tawakul.

Don't think that's an option. A switch may be done. But an opt out is not an option. I'd suggest to ask the dealership to show the fitted panel in an Elantra.

So I asked the dealership to show me the new AVN. Compared it with the current. So here's my conclusion.

The current, aesthetically, is 10/10. The new aesthetically is 6.5/10.

The current has limited features. The new is a full fledged android tablet. Lots of flexibility. Car tracking capabilities, geofencing etc.

The current's build quality is OEM quality. Top notch.
The new's build quality seemed to be good. The screen was very responsive. Smooth.

Seems to me the new AVN is not straight. botchy fitting or something.

OEM unit has exceptionally good sound output.

Dont know about new Android AVN. if anyone has any experience with new AVN, they can share please.
